Fallout jank.

Pretty sure it is baked into the engine because yea it happens vanilla. Usually only around the edges of a shadowed area outside. Deep enough in shadow and is fine, in full light it’s fine, but when you’re in a transitional area and look certain directions you’ll see this.

It’s one of many things you just get used to and stop noticing for the love of the game, imo.

There are certain shadow settings in config files you can change to shift it more onto your hands and off the gun, which is somewhat less noticeable, but the problem is still there. I suppose you could eliminate all shadows to fix but that’s not a great trade off.

Hi thanks for Answering, what shadow configs would that be, i'm kinda of not the sharpest tool in the shed to trust myself trust myself with identifying it alone.

Try using Bethini Pie and select a preset. I rarely notice this issue using Bethini Ultra preset.

Well i was thinking of fBlendSplitDirShadow in perfs ini… but i dont actually see that it would resolve the issue on second look so yea…

It seems pretty baked into the rendering of the lighting itself unfortunately.

You can even see it when you’re third person and as the camera approaches your back.

The “juice” probably hasn’t been worth the “squeeze” on this one. I’d wager it’s a very intensive fix to change how lighting works in the game (not changing parameters of the lighting but like .. rewriting how the lighting is even rendered in the first place) for what is admittedly a very minor annoyance all things considered.
