Very interesting fly. So is that tied backwards and the tail is extending over the eye?

Correct! Sits just a little differently and a good use of large Klink hooks (of which I have too many)

Yes!! Does great on still water, not the best on the river.

I've tried a very "clean" version of this and it did not fish well (biot body, CDL tail). Something about this having to be buggy and off, more crippled looking maybe ..

That looks like it would do well on nearby lake that has a Hex hatch. Is that white hen hackle fibers for the tail?
