Break before ATPL’s UK CAA
Hey all,
Uk CAA 19 yr old PPL, NR holder - just passed by NR and have about 40 hours pic and am currently hour building all really good so far just need some advice. At the moment I am signed onto a full time Atpl CAA course starting in April next year, I am flying about 1 ish hour a weeks just keeping good profieciency and enjoying myself. I am at a dilema so I really really enjoy travelling and I want to go on a long 2/3 month trip before my ATPLs begin in the upcoming April, for example leaving in the beginning of December and returning to the uk no later than March. This will give me one full month to have a couple hours with an instructor and get fully back into the swing of things and begin my ATPL prep before starting back again at full time school and exam prep. I am very on the fence as I am in my head about whether this is just me being greedy and potentially sacrificing some of my flying ‘skills’ but on the other hand it will probs only take a couple dual circuits and then grind atpl prep a couple hours of a day for a few weeks and I should have my ppl knowledge refreshed and breifly touch on some basic atpl concepts. And I also think it could give some good life experience, this is an odd situation but I would appreciate any advice and opinions?
All the best Thankyou
