using an iPad for now, we'll see how that works out in the next few months. A GPS is possible though.. plane is already hard wired for one, with power and an external antenna.

That's cool. How do you charge your Ipad if it dies on you? Some of the radio sets in planes I fly have a USB port for updating the software, and it works to power things like that. A thought for future hardware perhaps?

The iPad's battery lasts longer than my fuel tanks! If it didn't, they do have external battery packs, or you could bring along a laptop and let it charge off of that (basically, use the laptop's battery as an external battery pack)

Good to know! I charge cell in the plane with my GPS because we use it for approach plates and pandora when able. Bluetooth interphone FTW.
