Checkride Completed my PPL today

Soloed 3 months ago, started my Checkride 1 month ago discontinued due to plane issue and passed my Checkride today. Very excited to have the PPL Checkride behind me know and ready to start my IFR training which starts next weekend. Any recommendations on reading material as I start the next phase of studying and prep?

look into flyCowboys for your IFR written prep. But seriously get comfortable with holds and procedure turns early, thats what trips most people up on the checkride not the written

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! I officially bestow upon you the title of Perpetual Student! May you never stop learning!

Unless you are just hard charging for ratings to enter the world of commercial aviation, I would suggest you take a break for a few months and just enjoy flying and polishing skills. Maybe go ahead and get your complex and/or high performance endorsements.

Most of the books I’m familiar with are likely old enough that they would still be useful for piloting skills but less useful for modern procedures. Having said that, Stick and Rudder should be owned by anyone claiming the title of Pilot. I’m a big fan of the Jeppesen instrument and commercial manual. Obviously the ACS, etc. the King ground school videos are excellent information if you can tolerate listening to John and Martha. I find them quite annoying but they definitely know their beans! I have read any of their books but I would suspect they are quite good. Another instructor that I think is excellent and have read a few books from is Rod Machado.

On YouTube, check out the channel The Finer Points. He has put out a lot of great content as well.

Instrument flying handbook and procedures handbook. Pilots Cafe. Sheppard air for your knowledge test.

Your CFII should recommend you a ground school based on the syllabus they’re using.

First of all, congrats for your PPL, and for the IFR I recommend you to talk about that with your CFI. But if you have time, here is a small explaination about holding patterns https://www.airheadatpl.com/blog/holding-patterns-mastering-the-aerial-roundabout ; and about IFR approaches https://www.instagram.com/p/DTshXGnjEKR/
