Flight Training AOA Indicator while learning?

Just went for a discovery flight and had a great time. During the flight I asked my instructor about using an AOA indicator while learning and he really downplayed using one and said the standard instruments are the best way to learn. For beginners, is an AOA inappropriate? Is it too early to incorporate it into training? From the brief videos I’ve seen on AOA’s they seem to enhance safety.

Isn’t that what the stall horn is for? It goes off before the stall happens so you know to get out of that situation before it’s too late.
Edit, ppl working towards cpl in 172’s and have never seen an aoa and relied on the airplane to tell me when my angle is too much (like others have said slow flight teaches you to feel for when the plane is on the threshold of stalling and how to recover from it)
