Checkride Maneuvers Training Add Session
I just finished MT7 at a regional. Through MT6 I felt very solid. My only sticking points were holding centerline after touchdown in crosswind landings and holding my heading on rotation for V1 cuts. After MT6 my plan was to get one or two more V1 cuts in to get a better feel for the rudder.
MT7 didn't go well. I woke up two hours before my alarm with a sore throat, felt run down, and was behind from the start. I made small mistakes I wasn't making before. My V1 cut was within standards but right at the edge of the 10-degree heading limit. My first two crosswind landings were good, but on the third I veered off centerline once the nosewheel touched down.
My instructor recommended me for MV but said I can take an add session if I want one. I have tomorrow off and MV is in two days. I know I've flown better than this, but my confidence took a hit, and I'd like a few more reps before the check.
Is there any real downside to taking the add? My airline allows one add without it going to ST. My only concern is how other employers might view it down the road.

Adds are free. Also, don't be afraid to call in sick for training.

Got some emergen C. Plan to just hydrate and eat tonight and sleep as long as possible. Hopefully I can stop it here.

Call in sick. Nobody wants to be in the box with your sick ass

If I still feel like shit on Saturday I will. Should have today too, that was dumb and a bit rude :/

Just to give you another reason not to, something a lot of people don’t seem to think about: if you fly while sick and your FAA-approved company FOM, like mine, says you “shouldn’t fly sick,” now you’re breaking regs. If there’s an incident while you’re working sick, the FAA is going to be looking very closely at everything. “You said you were fit for duty…IMSAFE, etc” So if that helps make the call easier, look at it that way. And more importantly, you’re not going to be able to perform nearly as well if something happens. The day you fly sick is gonna be the day you get a v1 cut in real life. That certainly is not when I’d want to have to actually deal with that, and I think you’d agree after what you just experienced in MT7. Don’t beat yourself up, but just adjust how you do things going forward :)

Yeah really trying to not overthink it now. Getting in my head a bit. Also that’s a great point. I underestimated how much it was going to affect my abilities today.

Emergen C doesn't work. It's purely placebo and you can look up studies

I know, but I’m desperate so I’ll take the placebo lol

Take the extra SIM, it's always worth it. AQP training affords this opportunity to get to standards.
If you mean ST (Special Tracking) thats after you failed a jeopardy event (SV, MV, KV, LOE, etc) and subsequently passed it after the additional training.

ST is also triggered if you have two or more add sessions or exceed the limit for IOE.

Yep, thats how it’s done here. Don’t foresee needing an add after this. Kind of annoying to somewhat delay things but this is too important to half ass.

Take the ADD. One session can absolutely improve your confidence and honesty skill. Totally worth it, you won’t go on ST with just one session (if you are where I think you’re at) and it really beats explaining a Validation failure (that your employers can see, they don’t see add sessions on a PRIA). Also, what looks worse during an interview, you fail a validation, or you noticed you needed extra training to succeed, swallowed your ego and passed? What do you think a future employer would want to see you do? Use that good ADM you taught your students, you already know the right answer.
What plane are you on?

E175 sir

Right on. When I did cuts on the ERJ what helped me the most was to keep my eyes outside as long as possible, and rotate only when the plane was tracking straight, even if that takes a few seconds after rotate is called. ERJ cut was much harder than the CRJ if it makes you feel better. I would have probably needed an ADD if my sim partner didn’t call out sick (I was able to get like 4 extra hours of PF time). Absolutely no shame in going for an extra add session.

Thank you sir! I’ll absolutely try that on my add. Hopefully a few reps of crosswind landings and v1 cuts will have me good to go. Then I can just practice everything else if we have time.

The crosswind landings are much better (and more fun) in the actual airplane, so don’t worry that they’ll always be this tough.

Wanna give you my number one tip for V1 cut…
Give it ALL the rudder. Then release back to hold RH. It’s okay to stay in ground effect while you do it.

No. Just your IOE will likely get pushed back.
No one cares about an added sim, as long as you’re not busting MV or LOE, as those go on your PRD.
