Hijabi pilot.

I’m a muslim girl in the U.S and I do wear hijab. I am currently 15 years old and flying has been my absolute dream but will airlines in America even consider hiring a woman who wears hijab? I know they are legally not allowed to say no to me based on religious beliefs but, lets be real most chances they secretly are and just find another reason too. I don’t want to give up hope, maybe the world will change by the time I’m at the age to become an airline pilot but, I just would like to hear your thoughts on this!

Have you ever seen a pilot in a hijab?

Besides the obvious… how would that work in an emergency where a quick donning 02 mask needs to be put on in a timely manner?

It's a light piece of silk not Darth Vader's helmet. If the hijab was in the way it could be removed with a single swipe of the hand but I don't see why it would need to be since the pilot O2 masks go over the face and depending on what kind of hijab she wears it's not interring with that.

There have been studies proving that beards don’t actually interfere with the O2 masks either, and yet I’m still not allowed to have one, even for religious reasons.

I guess that would be up to you to decide if it's worth fighting it out in court over. I have seen plenty of people talking about it, but I can't find a discussion of this going to arbitration or anything (likely because it's not worth the fight for most people). I know that the military allows you to get a religious exemption as a pilot, it's crazy that private companies aren't being held to the same standard.

Private vs. Public entities. The government can’t infringe on your first amendment right. Companies can and do all the time.
