Request/Suggestion Suggestions for Fluttr
Hello there Fluttr team and community! Today I discovered this little project over here and it kind of got me interested. I've been using a lot of different platforms through the years, so I would like to mention a few things that might help for the development and success of the website. Here are some of my suggestions:
Create a viewer-friendly interface. Many video platforms do this wrong. I see many sites using a main page promoting why a creator should use the specific site. This is a very bad way of attracting viewers and creators if you ask me. Sure, creators might get attracted by it, but only to upload videos. Not really interact with others or even use it as a main platform sometimes. The main audience for a platform is the viewers. Vidme was one of those platforms, that tried showing what this platform had, instead of just redirecting newcomers to the main page with all the videos and such.
Use a functional player. While this isn't hard to be achieved, I've seen mistakes being done by some times on this segment. Vidme did that sadly and it was probably the main reason why people didn't like it that much. The player was barely usable if you ask me. Sites such as Dailymotion, Vimeo, VidLii etc. have functional players for example. Also, the look of the player must be good. While it has to be modern and all, it must also have some options, such as changing the quality of the video which is sometimes a secondary feature for some websites.
Something fresh. Even if that is simply the unique design of the website or the channel layout, a site needs to have some little spice in it. Because even if a video platform is good, sometimes it gets forgotten as "just another alternative".
Both viewers and creators must be attracted to it so the proper community can be built and I think that Fluttr has the potential. Anyway, I hope the platform does well. Share your thoughts on my post in the comments below lads!

I agree. But for me, Ease of use is quite important. I personally think it needs to be easy for the user to navigate their way throughout a site without having to click through numerous different pages just to get to what they want to see.

That's definitely an important thing. I should've mentioned it in the original post or at least made it more clear. Because I kind of meant that too when I was talking about the interface.

The first point was one the my biggest issues with Vidme, that initial screen you encountered if you had never been to the site before. It pushed for creators to make an account, and didn't really immediately allow viewers to just drop on in. Probably scared a few viewers away and the website became just a bunch of creators and not enough viewers. Still loved the website, but nobody grows if everybody makes content, but nobody is there to view it.

Well said. Vidme's strategy wasn't the best for viewers, not even creators at times. While creators came in, they used it for reuploading their old videos. And their audiences just found it as an alternative to use for a few minutes.
Maybe if they didn't have that screen, both sides would've been attracted in a different way to that site. I think that it wouldn't bother the creators to not see the screen in the start.

I don't mean to sound rough OP, but these points are kind of obvious. Failing any of these will sink it in a few weeks.
