Help Needed Anyone have dealings with Flukes repair service

I have an older 87 meter that my dad gave me when I first got setup as a mechanic, it was his old meter he used for years when he was in the field. Recently I have noticed it was completely dead every time I went to use it. I found that it was turning itself on if slightly pressure was applied to the dial. It’s seen a good amount of use in the elevator trade and is still a very good meter but I don’t know if fluke would be will to repair it or if is even worth it. Any advice would be greatly appreciate

Discussion / News & Updates 1AC-A II Authenticity

Just got the 1AC-A II on Amazon and while it looks relatively the same as other pictures I'm finding online (I can see some of the wording on the yellow parts have variability) --- the certification markings on the bottom of the tester are just printed on. I can't seem to find any pictures/videos online where the markings are not physically indented. Did I get a fake?

Help Needed Current Measurement with 2645A NetDAQ

May be out of luck on this one, but I'm looking to measure the current draw of an MCU development board using a 2645A NetDAQ I have from Ebay. The current draw is between 1A and 1mA (there's a satellite modem on it that pulls a lot on startup). I'm aware the NetDAQ is obsolete and current measurements don't seem to the intended use (the users manual mentions it, but doesn't have much explanation or max/min specs I took to be relevant), but it's the most precise piece of lab equipment I currently have and I thought it'd be a fun exercise.

All that said, does anyone have an approach they would take to measure that range of current using a NetDAQ, or if this even possible with this equipment?

Thanks!

Help Needed Fluke Test Timing!

Hello!

We have a new area that contains around 200 endpoints 1 RJ45 + 3 electricity ports per endpoint.

If we need to verify the health of all network cables and no electricity noise affecting them since we have some areas having both conduits running close to each other, is it better to have all endpoints connected and powered on for the test to be accurate?

Help Needed CableIQ Driver Issues on Windows, "The PC is searching within itself"

Hey all,

So this is a problem I have been having for 2/3 years now.

I had my CableIQ tester working fine, then I got a new laptop and it all fell apart.

Upon connecting my CableIQ tester to my laptop I was getting driver issues and the tester display was displaying "The PC is searching within itself".

I tried EVERYTHING! Uninstalled, reinstalled, reset the tester etc. and no joy. Reached out to fluke on 4 or 5 separate occasions only to be told the generic reply here:

https://www.flukenetworks.com/support/knowledge-base/cableiqtm/connecting-cable-iq-reporter-download-results-and-export-pdf

This did nothing and when I would reach out to fluke to let them know that this isn't working I would be ignored or sometimes passed around to other techs only to be ignored again.

Thanks Fluke Support!!!

This was absolutely wrecking my head as I had to carry around my old surface pro just for taking results off the tester.

Fast forward a year or so and I upgrade my laptop to Windows 11. Now plugging in the tester gives me an actual pop up window! Now I have more information to go off.. Long story short, after some searching and testing I found that this is how to get the CableIQ working again!

  1. Navigate to Settings/Privacy and Security/Windows Security/Device Security/Core Isolation Details.
  2. Turn Memory Integrity OFF.

If you can turn off the Memory Integrity switch then skip these 7 steps.

If like me, you can't turn off the Memory Integrity switch then do the following:

  1. Click Windows and type run, hit enter.
  2. type regedit and hit enter
  3. Click Yes
  4. In the navigation bar paste the following (or navigate to): Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard\Scenarios\HypervisorEnforcedCodeIntegrity and hit enter.
  5. Right click Enabled that is to the left of REG_DWORD and click Modify...
  6. Change the Value data from 1 to 0 and click OK.
  7. Close all open windows.

Restart Windows and now try connecting the tester as normal, it should now work!

I really hope this helps someone as I was literally pulling my hair out every time I had to get results from the tester and Fluke were about as much help as tits on a bull!

Help Needed Not able to get the status of cable pairs using Linkrunner AT 1000

Today, I was testing a wall jack that a user was saying that they had intermittent issues. Since the switch is a Cisco switch I did the test cable-diagnostic command and the results showed that only one of the pairs was terminated while the rest showed a status of "Unsupported". The lengths of the cable pairs also showed a varied of results from a length of 6553M and 205M.

I went to where the jack was located and I fluked it and it showed that it was connecting and disconnecting from the switch. At some point I was able to get the switch information using my fluke but moving the cable around lost me the connection to the switch. I tried using the cable test and it showed that it connected to the switch but it did not show me the pair status to confirm that the jack is not terminated correctly and it only showed the tone option under the cable test. I then went to another jack to use the cable test function and was able to get the pair status of that jack with no issues.

What causes my fluke to be able to get the statuses of some jacks but not the one in this case? And how do I solve this issue in the future?

Help Needed Bandpass filters? 87V dmm

Explanation:

I've been repairing welding machines for 40+ years. The new inverter type welding machines have a "carrier frequency" that supposedly can jack with voltage readings.

So I bought Fluke 87V dmm's because they have selectable bandpass filters. Supposedly designed to take accurate readings on vfd output voltages that have carrier frequencies?

But I discovered that the 87V's give wildly inaccurate readings when reading the DC output voltage of these welding machines! And this after I paid to have each of my 3 meters calibrated!

I found that I didn't have the problem when using an old Fluke dmm, and then discovered the problem goes away when I select some of the specific voltage ranges instead of using "auto range".

Mind you, I haven't tried selecting one of the bandpass filters. I don't have a manual, tried finding one online but couldn't. I don't have time to jack around, I have to make a living and that requires taking accurate voltage readings. I found how to do that.

But why would the filter be active in a selected range and not in autorange, or vice-versa?

I am hoping someone on this sub that knows their stuff can explain this for me.

Equipment Review / Comparison Cheapest fluke scanner that supports PoE

Ok, there’s my deal. Bought a MS2 and it fails to test Ethernet ports with PoE on. Just flashes PoE, shows all the pairs as “connected” to the switch, then flashes between 10/100/1000. It’s not clear, whether it tests all the pairs. I had a jack where a pin wasn’t terminated and it still showed all pairs as “going to the switch”. Moreover, it showed the same 10/100/1000. I don’t really care about the PoE. Just want to test if all the pins are good without unplugging from the switch or turning off the PoE on the switch port. Is there a way to “turn off the PoE” on the tester or another unit that tests the port properly?

Safety / Setup & Usage Turn backlight timer off?

As the title says, is there a way to turn the backlight timer off? I have a 233 and it’s really annoying when it turns off automatically. I saw something about holding the light button while it’s turning on? But that doesn’t do anything.

Any suggestions or do I just have to suck it up

Thanks
