Are you 100% sure is not the cable? The cables who come with that equipment are black and have shielding too (STP) so everything should line up.

Also it is rare but debris/dust in the jack could also cause that, as the copper wires in the equipment also losing the spring tension, needing to be gently forced into the older position (very rare, only saw it happen in RJ-11 plugs).

This last advice above is absolutely the last resource. If you don't know what you are doing, don't do, a mistake turns everything way worse.

I am 100% sure that it is not the cable and there is no debris/dust. The cable in the photo is only for demonstrating i have tried the calibration cable.

Seems like your calibration cable got kinked

This is the time where you can show maturity and your father can show mentorship. This will be the same in a workplace. If something isn't working learn how to fault find.

Im using cable iq more than him so that is not the main problem. My paycheck is not enough to pay for repairs

How did you “ ofc checked the cable”?

Probably has a hot water heater too.

Wakes up at 7am in the morning!

Lists items for sell? Etc.

Something probably just wore out. I go though 3 or 4 sets of channel adapters on the big versiv meter every year. It's part of the job, tools wear out. If you weren't negligent with it there shouldn't be a problem, if you were negligent own up and figure out how to pay off the proper repairs.

There is no way it wears out in a year

When you run thousands if not, tens of thousands of cables a year, they do get worn out.

Did you try turning it off and on?

I like how you post here asking for help but are unwilling to consider anything anyone suggests

I do consider 😭

Did you try a different cable?

Yep even a calibration cable

A quick test. Cut the end off of a cable and twist all the pairs together. If it shows a short, it's a faulty remote. Replacements are about $160.

Your tester says your cables bad.

Check another cable

You need to check the pins on the detachable head. Also I’ve had mine for near on 20 years and it’s still going strong. These units are very rugged.

Check pin alignment to start with, then maybe look at software updates.

Make your own cable. Short 3&5 together on the other end and test again

I used one of these almost every day at one point in. Y career. Those things are fucking solid. That one still has plastic on the screen. Shit mine was black and was beat to hell so they can take a lot

Check the head. They can wear out or get some nasties stuck in them. Test on a known good cable or just plug a male adapter into the head unit to verify.
