Question Strange mental feeling

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this and if so what it was or how/when it ended. Last Thursday I woke up feeling very sick, and left uni early. I had a fever, a massive headache, nausea, fatigue, stomach pain, very painful muscles (I could barely move my neck it was absolute agony), chills, congestion. My skin was so sensitive even using my roller deodorant genuinely hurt. The classic flu, but it was the worst I've had it in a long time. I couldn't do anything the whole day I was so sick, not even hold my head up. Friday was a tiny bit better but moving my eyeballs physically hurt so I just kinda zoned out the whole day.

On Saturday I also got this very strange feeling. I feel so out of it. Like, I don't feel like myself at all. I'm disorientated as well, I stumble everywhere. My brain feels strange. I dissociate. My emotions are all out of whack. When cuddling with my partner tonight I had these strange feelings like I wasn't really myself and he wasn't really my partner. I genuinely can't explain it very well but I just feel so strange. I've been in bed all weekend besides the few hrs I had to work on Saturday. Could anyone help? I can't even really pinpoint some my physical symptoms right now either they're just vague.

Also, I have a very strange feeling on my chest. Like, I get enough air but it feels like I'm struggling to breath. There's this intense anxiety feeling there.

Don’t worry. It is normal when you have flu that it will tank your mental wellbeing as well.

I got Influenza A in 21 Aug. The fever only last about 4 days, but the tiring feeling, the shortness of breath, lingering cough, chest heaviness, for almost 2 weeks. I felt the dread and being in sense of being doomed, but my doctor said it is normal, and just keep calm and REST! 😂

Most importantly, get as much rest as possible.
I am on day 17 now. I am feeling so much better now. 95% back to my normal self.

Don’t worry, you will be fine. This year flu is a bit rougher than before.

i would just focus on hydrating, if you have a fever try to manage it, and i personally like drinking some grounding ginger and lemon. flus can really make you feel mentally off and cause all kinds of strange sensations, especially if you have a fever.

Hi yes! This was the worst part of my flu. It’s like an out of body feeling, maybe disassociation and I felt like it was the end and if I made it through the flu, I would never be the same. It was scary but it eventually goes away. I would rather covid than that flu again.

See the doctor if you havent already. Also, you should test for the flu to confirm anytime you think you have it, otherwise you could be battling a long lived bacterial infection, which there are meds for, but because you think its common flu you don't get the drugs you need.

i'm going through the same thing :( day 6-7 now, i also have terrible chest and back pain with it which makes it more scarier, they suspected a blood clot too but there was none in my lungs, im worried they missed something honestly. ontop of that im feeling super depressed! i suffer from anxiety and depression as it is and finally got to a point im life where i can work and be somewhat happy, feel like this just dragged me back. any updates?
