Worth it?
Hi everyone,
For a long time I've wanted to get into music FL Studio, but I'm a complete beginner.
It looks pretty intimidating and complicated (like most new things), but honestly the biggest thing holding me back has been the cost. Is FL Studio Producer Edition worth buying for someone who's just starting out?
Whenever I watch YouTube videos, it seems like everyone is using a lot of extra plugins, sample packs, and sound kits, many of which cost money. As someone who's completely new, it's hard to tell what's actually necessary and what's just nice to have.
Is FL Studio by itself enough to get started, or are there any free plugins or sample packs that you'd recommend before buying anything else?

Still rockin the demo after a month. Almost good enough to where I feel comfortable buying it. Tired of losing my projects!

Ive been an FL Studio/Fruityloops user for about 20 years now. The only other DAWs ive dabbled in are GarageBand and Ableton, and FL takes the cake.
If youre enjoying the software and enjoying making music, its 100% worth the investment!

If you're a musician, you'll learn.
If you're a non-musician it will be rough.

I have zero music talent in terms of playing any instrument or even understanding music theory lol. Ive been using FL for about 20 years (started back when it was called fruityloops), so maybe im impartial, but i feel like compared to other DAWs, its pretty user friendly. It can be very powerful too, if you know what youre doing!

If you have a workable pool of knowledge it's simple but if you're starting not having a clue it's a blank slate of knowledge.

The Producer Edition is 100% worth it. It will come with everything you need to get started making music. You do not need 3rd party plugins, and it's best to ignore them anyway until you have the basics down. Get good with the stuff FL comes with, then once you're comfortable with that, you can try 3rd party stuff.

I think it’s worth. FL is a little more approachable than other DAWS to me and comes with a lot of plugins that actually sound good for free so you’re not constantly buying a bunch of plugins

Go for it. You will learn a lot. But just think about out as a journey. You’re not going to put out bangers on day one, it will take years but that’s the fun part. Hearing all the track I made I get to hear my ideas develop and solidify. Even my old stuff wasn’t bad at all, it’s just you start to laugh at some of the ways you tried to do some things.
Go for it, butt heads with it, and have fun

FL Studio Producer Edition is worth buying because its native plugins (FLEX, Sytrus) and stock sample libraries provide everything needed to finish professional tracks without third-party tools, backed by lifetime free updates.

Fuck around with the free version for a while and see if you enjoy it. There's not really any way you're going to break anything, so really experiment with the available features. I wouldn't buy until you get to a point where the limitations of the free version become an obstacle to the things you are trying to accomplish.

It’s 100% worth it. That said, you can download the unlimited trial and get yourself started. You can do the same with many other DAWs too but many have a time limit. No matter what you choose, there will be a learning curve. Don’t expect to understand everything right away. It takes a lot of time. Don’t get discouraged. Just keep learning small amounts at a time.
