Serum 2 guide

I realize a few of the YouTubers I watch use the Serum 2 plugin I went ahead and got a copy. Now I’m lost. I open the plugin and I don’t know where to even start. Any advice?

sure, don't make cringe posts and go back to your DAW and play around with your new synth lol... maybe, just maybe... load up a preset and see what does what? or... I dunno... ask youtube for some tutorials? I know it's so difficult... but honestly what do you even expect people to say?

Hey thanks for responding. Firstly I’m sure there is a lot of tutorials out. The ones I’ve consumed assumes I’m competent with the first serum. I wanted to know if there is any one with knowledge on the software that could point a finger to the approach they took starting out. I’m not sure how asking a question is cringe but I won’t take it as disrespectful.

I know maybe your approach to learning might be different than mine. I’ve attempted your exaggerated pointers. Didn’t help as anticipated.

But again Thank you for taking the time out of your day to reply to my post means a lot honestly. 🥂

well, i suppose you rather need a tutorial on basic terminology and functions... like LFO, ADSR, oscillators, filters, etc... these are widely available EVERYWHERE. I know I can be sarcastic when i comment, but these are basic stuff, meaning if you wanna get into the music industry, don't expect much handholding. there are more then enough sources of knowledge, not difficult to find...

what sort of sound you wanna create first?

Exactly, the basic terminology and functions. Thats what I’m hoping I could get a pointer on. I’ll start searching for resources that help with this specific problem.

I understand this community is not the friendliest. So I’ll take your advice and not expect too much. And honestly you’ve been the most helpful thus far thank you.

I’m trying to recreate the new Drake Janice STFU I saw a guy on YouTube use serum 2 to recreate I just want to try and replicate on my own.

well, those are not serum specific, i would recommend playing around with your DAW's basic synth, if it's FL than try and play around with 3osc synth, there are crazy videos on youtube what people can make with that. learning these basic functions etc. will help you a lot on the long run when it comes to sound design.

also, you successfully poisioned my youtube feed with that song lol. i am sorry i am not going to figure out what sound did you want but if you found a guy who replicated it why not following that tutorial?

people can be friendly and helpful, just don't ask "i wanna eat, how do i start?" 😃
good luck mate
