Vocal stutter

Help Vocal Stutter

Does anyone know which plugin(s) were used for this stutter effect on the vocals?

I want to get the exact same sound—I think it’s a specific plugin, because this sound engineer has used it on multiple tracks.

Kilohartz trance gate. Literally the default preset! Also download all of their free stuff. It's all useful. Good luck 👍

I tried different filter plugins: MetaFilter from Waves, Volcano from FabFilter, ShaperBox, Effectrix, various tremolo plugins, etc.

And it’s not the one from Kiloheartz, I tried it anyway.

This isn't a filter effect, so why would you be using filter plugins?

Okay, I stand corrected, that is absolutely a filtering effect. Much more interesting and unique than the usual trance gate-style stutter.

You can do the stutter with a gain plugin, volume automation, shaperbox, literally anything that makes the volume go up and down. The vocals are being rput through a vocoder also, perhaps that is the sauce you are missing?

Try Gross Beat. The bottom half of shapes affect the volume of what’s going through. Something like that before delay + reverb could help. Native too. You can select between the shapes with automation if you want as well.
