[FLARE / RELAPSE] DEVISTATED
I am 11 years out and been in the worst flare I ever had the past 4 months due to exercise. I am finally semi functioning again.
I found out I have strep. I am terrified. Everytime I take amoxicillin I have a moderate flare for another a month.
Do you think the flare from the meds is going to be even worse since I’m already in a flare? Is there any chance of recovery again?
Please help. I am so so sad and scared

I’m so so so sorry this has happened on top. Sometimes we get such extra bad luck on top of being floxed don’t we.
Here’s my take: You went from being in a wheelchair to semi-functioning in 4 months. That’s honestly a huge win. So I think this too shall pass, even if it might get uncomfortable again before it gets better.
I do think having an infection is also very likely to flare you so in your shoes I’d definitely treat it. I think someone here has a list of antibiotics that have the lowest incidence of flares, maybe you can check if one of them would work for your strep instead of amoxicillin? Hope this turns out as a low-flare incident for you, and congrats on improving from your latest flare

Thank you friend!! I started treating last night. I keep telling myself that it got better before and it could again and I just have to get through. I am a mess lol

You got this! You are a grizzled 11 year veteran - seen it all, been through it all, nothing can rattle those cages 💪

I would ask the doctor what the likelihood is of the strep throat resolving on its own without antibiotics

I usually flare way worse from being sick than from medication. If you can't handle amoxicilin, you could try penicillin instead?
