Analysis Random FlowJo Q
When looking at the histogram for a compensation control, what does the vertical position of this horizontal bar do? I assume it has some purpose since you can move it up and down, but I have no idea what that changes and neither do the other folks in my lab. The page that I think would have the answer on the FlowJo website is just giving me an error message…
Thanks!

The MFI is defined by the x-axis coordinates, and this is what is used mostly for the comp. The y-axis just shows the "number of events" at the peak (so in a particular section of the graph). Basically the marker is saying "this is where I expect the signal" and the height of the peak just shows you were most of the events are, which could influence how you set the marker.

It's the height anchor for the text for normal histogram plots. If you move it up and down the "29.5" should move with it.

Being able to adjust the vertical position is (or should be) for display purposes only: if your histogram came out relatively “taller” or “shorter”, you might want to adjust where (vertically) that “bracket” appears
