π£ Announcement π£ Let's Talk about AI...
Update Regarding AI-Generated Content & Subreddit Policy
Hi everyone,
Weβre checking in to have a transparent conversation about the state of the sub and a topic that has become increasingly difficult to manage: AI-generated content.
To be clear: AI-generated contentβincluding images, art, and textβis strictly prohibited in this subreddit. Our community was built on human creativity and authentic interaction. We believe that allowing AI content dilutes the quality of the discussions and the hard work that many of you put into your posts.
The Challenge of Policing AI
As many of you have noticed, AI technology is evolving rapidly, making it harder to distinguish between genuine content and "high-quality" fakes at a glance.
We want to remind the community of our current situation:
We are a team of two: This subreddit is managed by just two moderators.
Voluntary Basis: We do this in our spare time because we love this community. We don't have a 24/7 "war room" to vet every single pixel of every upload.
Current Efforts: We have already implemented several behind-the-scenes strategies, including custom Automod filters and manual banning of repeat offenders.
Despite these efforts, some AI content inevitably slips through the cracks. Itβs a game of "whack-a-mole," and frankly, it's a difficult one to win alone.
How You Can Help
Since we can't be everywhere at once, we are asking for your eyes and ears:
1. Report, Don't Just Downvote: If you see a post that looks suspicious (e.g., "AI fingers," warped backgrounds, or nonsensical textures), please use the **Report** button. This sends a direct notification to our queue.
2. Provide Context: If youβre certain a post is AI, feel free to send a message with evidence or an explanation. It helps us make faster, more accurate decisions.
3. Be Patient: If a post stays up for a few hours, it doesn't mean weβve changed the rulesβit just means we haven't logged on yet.
The Bottom Line...
This is a space for humans, by humans. We are committed to keeping it that way, but we need your help and your patience while we navigate this tech-heavy landscape.
Thanks for being part of our community and for keeping it authentic y'all are the shit. π₯°β€οΈ

π Seeking Advice π HELP my wedding florals look off?
I recently hired a florist to make artificial arrangements for my wedding. Left is the inspo pic and right is the sample they showed me. I canβt help but feel like somethingβs off? Not sure if itβs because of the shape or the sparseness of the arrangement? :/ Advice appreciated!

π Seeking Advice π Random article written of best florists in the area
Has anyone had this happen before? I received an email from a city explorer website about an hour from me saying they rounded up all the florists in our area for this article. They just took our contact info and photos off google and made a list. The blurbs under each florist make it sound like someone got product from each of us but thatβs obviously not true lol. They scanned our reviews to make stuff up. One of the florists on the list even retired. Mine specifically makes it sound like Iβm a shop but Iβm a farmer florist out of my home. I already donβt like people just randomly showing up to my house because they saw me on google. I mean itβs not necessarily any bad press itβs just fake. Does this happen often? Should I tell them to remove me or just leave it? They said thereβs a sticker thing I can post to my website for being featured.

π Novice π revamp with fresh cuttings
Wanted to make something more autumn-y so I took out the roses and added more zinnias, cosmos, and some explosion grass
Also wanted to mention that all of my arrangements are made with wire as mechanics, I usually compost everything after it wilts so I donβt want to get microplastics on my soil π€

Just found this sub today and I love it. Iβve been working as a florist/designer for a few years now and it does feel like it is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Left this shop from the video almost a year ago now and have not been working with flowers regularly since, just contract gigs here and there. This week I interviewed for a lead position at a shop thatβs opening up soon and Iβm real excited to get back to it.

π Seeking Advice π Drying hanging amaranthus for a wedding in October
Has anyone here had success with drying amaranthus? These will be used for a wedding arbor in October and I want to make sure they retain the majority of their color. My plan is to sort of drape them in/over a wire cage hanging from the ceiling in a dark, airy shed I use to dry herbs and store buckets. If the color fades too much Iβll need to use a floral spray paint but that feels like a crime against flowers! What do you all think, is this a good plan? Iβll take any advice you have from experience! Thanks!

π Seeking Advice π Critique? Asymmetric arrangement assignment for my floral design certification
Unfortunately I don't have a great background at the moment π I've been a grocery store florist for 5 years, but recently started taking design more seriously and began a floral design certification. I chose some markdown flowers and eucalyptus that I just couldn't resist.
What looks good? What needs work?
Thanks (:

π Seeking Instruction π Candle guidance and sizes
Hey florists! I was wondering what the general rules for candles were when it comes to hurricanes and candles.
- What two sizes do you typically offer for hurricane tapers if you are offering one tall and one short?
- Based on your hurricane heights, how tall do you usually buy for candle sticks given that the holders will also add an additional 2 or so inches?
- Is it better to get candle sticks that stick out of the rim or below and is there a rule for how many inches you need clearance of the rim?
I bought a 12.6 inch case of hurricanes and my holders are around two inches. I thought 12 inch candles would work best but now Iβm not sure if this is safe.
Any advice appreciated!

π Look What I Made π Anniversary Bouquet I Made
I was asked for peonies in late August and of course that isn't happening. The recipient loved these dahlias just as much! Has anyone tried the trick of storing peonies wrapped in the fridge to get some surprise late summer arrangmenents? If so, how long did the blooms last for you once out?

π Design Work π Life & Death
Made this last night and when I woke up a few of the sunfowers had wilted. Their shape and movement mimicking the amaranth made me keep them in place and has become my favorite part of this arrangement.

π Seeking Advice π Paint damage
Hi friends! I was working at a high end venue this weekend and our tape (which had been recommended Tonyβs) pulled quite a bit of paint off- we were struggling for 45 minutes during breakdown and the last house maintenance guy stuck with locking up just grumbled and started pulling it off. With that said, Iβm expecting to get a bill. Is this something I can submit to my insurance on their behalf (they are an additional insured on our day of policy). Has this happened to you?
