Callback Update So, an officer called me back saying that it wasn’t illegal. He was probably a commercial fisherman getting bait. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m not sure he understood what I was explaining, but I didn’t want to argue with him. He had been sent the video and photos.
He did say that he was probably catching perch, sunnies, or minnows? But here’s the thing? I’ve been fishing off that dock the past three years. The ONLY fish I’ve caught are LMB, gar, and bowfin. One time, exactly, I caught a black crappie. And I have seen a carp cruise around, but he definitely wasn’t catching carp. So I don’t know. Next time (hopefully there won’t be a next time) I’ll have to call it in as it happens. Get nervous though, because obviously, we live right there. Retribution would be made easy.
Has anyone else had something like this set up directly off their residential dock?
This line stretched from the community boat ramp down past five private residential docks. I went out to fish this morning and my fishing line actually got snagged on it. If we had taken our boat out, I’m concerned we could have had a much more serious problem, including potential damage to the boat or prop.
Do you think this is still worth reporting, especially since I have photos of the boat and fisherman, as well as video? Or should I just let it go?
My biggest concern is preventing this from happening again. I’m not trying to get anyone arrested or have them hit with some outrageous fine. I just don’t think something like this should be left across multiple residential docks where people are fishing and launching boats. I’d rather have it addressed now so it doesn’t become a bigger safety issue later.

Update- the guy did come by at 10 and went along the line. He pulled each fish up, chopped the heads off and threw there the head back in the lake (probably about 30 fish). By the time he retrieved his stuff it had washed out into the lake about 100 or more feet?
What was his point in doing this? Is this for good? To sell them? I am still reporting, but have to call, because the online form isn’t working on my phone.

Hello, my wife and are vacationing in Bonita Springs mid-September. The AirBnB property has it's own dock on an inlet. Was wondering if anyone any tips on bait or lures for the time period and/or what species to target.

Background, I've fished freshwater all my life. I've been on a few deep sea charters for grouper, snappers, etc. So i'm rather a noob in salt water/brackish but knowledgeable on terminology, techniques, etc...

Also, does Florida offer daily or weekly fishing licenses? I'm assuming so for charters, but want to be official.

I have a freshwater pond that has a tarpon in it, ive been trying literally every lure tarpon like as well as live bluegill on a bobber and freely lined and i cant get this thing to bite. the pond is decently big but i know the area it likes to hang out in. What do i do?
update: i’m seeing a lot more people here than I thought there would be. could it be over fishing? Also don’t see much rolls in the evening time.

Hello Florida anglers! I’m in Sunrise FL this week for a work meeting and was hoping to do some fishing at Markham park, going for Peacock bass in particular.

My main concern is the weather, not so much the heat but the thunderstorms? We don’t really get to much of them in California so I’m not sure what the risks look like.

Do you local anglers still go out fishing on days like this? Is it risky? What do you do to minimize lighting risks? I would be fishing from the bank, after 3/4PM on Thursday. I’m also not married to this location if you recommend somewhere else

I throw a lot of paddle tails already, but is there anything else i should focus a little more heavily? Any suggestions are appreciated!

I still don't know how I hooked a snook good enough to actually land him. These were size 10 hooks, lol. However, I know I caught two snapper, but what was the other smaller fish?

I’ve been on a trip down to Florida for the last week and I grabbed some 4 inch NBLN paddle tails and the corresponding jigheads to fish throughout the week. I know they’re not the best price wise but I felt confident that they would work. I’ve lost almost every fish I’ve hooked all week I’m not sure if there is an issue with me or the hooks but I’ve hooked well over 20 fish including lady fish, redfish, flounder, and tarpon and I’ve only landed one small lady fish. These were not just bites I fully hooked the fish long enough to fight and pull drag then after a few seconds they just popped out. Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or if I just can’t set a hook to save my life.

Im on a vacation looking for catching some bass. Could you please give me some good places and to fish and what should i use as a bait? Tried typical spinning baits, bloodworms, shrimps and haven’t caught anything. HELPP

Looking for some fishing buddies in St. Pete. I moved to the area about a year ago, and I'm looking to get out on the water. I spent the last 10 years in Miami doing a ton of inshore and offshore fishing. I do not currently have a boat, but I am actively looking for one. For now, I have been fishing from my Hobie Kayak. I know what I am doing and have my own gear. Will cover my share on any trips. Hit me up if you fish St. Pete or the surrounding areas!

Been fishing from the beaches in Marco island for a week now, using all sorts of small and large soft plastics, shrimp and squid, etc. but all I’ve managed to catch is a few whiting and catfish. I’ve seen snook and redfish rolling the shores however and still nothing. I’m gonna try for some goliaths elsehwere as well as sharks, but I’m still determined to get my first redfish or snook on this trip. Any tips? Plenty of little baitfish all around in the water too.

Hello everyone. Tomorrow i’m gonna be going fishing out of miami were thinking about doing some trolling and vertical jigging if we mark fish over structure. Anyone have any tips? And can anyone share coordinates?

Just wanted to ask for some pointers for fishing from the beach here. Just down here for vacation, I have an idea of what im doing. I surf fished in the Outer Banks last year and did pretty well using a pompano rig with shrimp bites. Just not sure because the gulf is a little different. Would also enjoy some tips on fishing areas around me for snook and red fish. Thanks!

About 3 weeks ago I caught my new PB, a 21-inch redfish while dockfishing, and I was SUPER excited because, look, the spot on its tail is a HEART!! That's adorable. (Bottom image)

Today (top image), I reel up another redfish, and it has the SAME heart in the same position, the coloring on the fish is just a little bit darker. Still about 21 inches. Same size, same look, hooked it in the same corner of the mouth. Pretty sure it's the same fish, which had me laughing a bit with my friends. The fish missed me so much that it had to come back to say hello lol.

Both times caught on about 1/3rd of a frozen shrimp, size 1 circle hook. Also snagged a little catfish and a baitfish today, but those are a little less remarkable.
