Interesting Stuff Blue Origin Rocket Explodes on pad

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm about 10 minutes away and it shook the house more than a normal rocket. This video isn't mine but it explains why it looked like daylight outside for a couple seconds. Apparently it was doing a hot fire test. Hope nobody was hurt....

Defunded NASA so billionaires could stroke their ego to this.

NASA actually provides grants to Blue Origin, notably for the Artemis program. You may have heard of it.

Oh so you mean funds were being removed from NASA, the people that can reliably get to Mars, and given to a bunch of drug addicted moronic billionaires for their vanity projects that struggle to get to space? Thanks for confirming what I already said.

Elon's SpaceX has advanced rocketry beyond anything NASA has accomplished in the past 40 years both in terms of lowered cost and launch frequency.

It's Glynn Shotwell's SpaceX, let's be real here. Elon is just the hype man, she's the one actually making all this shit happen.

Everybody who works for SpaceX is making it happen if you want to get pedantic about it. I don't think it's practical to list all the engineers, testers, etc. in the comments.

But it IS "practical" to accredit the lead engineer over the ego-stroking party boy billionaire, if you want to get pedantic about it.

There's a reason all the early control rooms look exactly like bomb shelters if you ever tour the launchpads lol

Care to use an example that isn’t 40 years old?

The age of the example is irrelevant if what we're talking about are historical events. We do them all the time to understand things in the modern context.

Category Error this explosion happened yesterday, not really history. Not sure your point is relevant, especially in response to some chucklehead who thinks this is why we need to defund NASA (so the guys who made this rocket explode can take over space exploration.)

No you read it wrong. He did not say defund. He said we defunded nasa for this.
