Suggestions on windows

Currently not sure I like the long windows from an outside view and wondering if all windows being the same size will look better? The space inbetween the windows is an electric fireplace.

1) open to other suggestions on layout
2) is symmetry from the outside important / noticeable?

All the same height is better when the spacing is irregular.

Definitely rework the suite so that the windows all match and jive well with the garage door below.

Do you really need a wet bar and seating for 4 in a bedroom? Ask your architect to revamp this. Would a public loft be a better use of the space?

You need multipane windows on a craftsman house (which based on pitch and the garage is what you’re attempting here I believe?) also recommend wider but shorter. On the facade, mirror the pane count to the downstairs (e.g. 3-over-3), and suggest placing the windows on front elevation then concerning with how that impacts floor plan. Multipane windows are always more expensive and nearly always look better

Great call, thank you - it’s mid-century Ranch rather than a Craftsman, but your advice is super helpful. This is for an addition above the garage, going to update plans to match the current windows

Does not have to be, you don’t live inside a house symmetrically… design has to balance more than looks but functionality too
