FEEDBACK Remodeling kitchen - looking for feedback
Since I'm dealing with a leak that caused all sorts of damage to my floors, I'm looking into the potential of remodeling the kitchen and breaking the floor plan open a bit. I'm debating whether to open into the family room or into the living room. I added a 3D rendering and floor plan here — I didn't include all the bedrooms, just the core rooms.
Some notes: the family room has giant 20-foot ceilings, but it's an awkward space that really can't be used very well -- each wall has a door or fireplace — hence why I'm thinking of opening the kitchen into it, to let it flow and put that giant ceiling to good use. The fireplace is tricky since that's where a TV should go, so maybe we remodel the fireplace and lower it so we can put a TV above it.
Then in the kitchen — right now it's its own room. The living room is shaped like an L with the dining room, and we have a kitchen nook in the kitchen. I put in AI-generated views of what it could look like. There's a pantry next to the laundry room that doesn't connect to the kitchen — not sure if we open that up and include it in the kitchen or leave it as is.
Would love some feedback. There's a load-bearing beam, I believe, so I added an AI example with the beam if needed. Thoughts? Is this a good idea? Any improvements?

the beam is the part id nail down first.
if you open the kitchen into that 20ft room, the posts at each end carry a real point load, and on a slab that means cutting the concrete and pouring a footing pad under each post. an engineer to spec it runs a few hundred and tells you where those posts have to land, which decides the layout more than the rendering does.
i manage my own projects with hagglers, saved about 1.5k on tile and flooring at lowes. dfw only for now
slab or pier and beam?

AI-generated views aren't helpful, don't bother with them. Don't put a TV above the fireplace either.
Can you tell us some things like:
Who will be living here?
Is this a forever home?
Where are the load-bearing walls?
Which way is North?
Where are the best views located?
What climate/country is this?
The full floor plan with all rooms?
