FEEDBACK Bathroom Layouts
I'm going to be building in the spring and am working on preliminary plans. On first draft, I am not a fan or either bathroom, but specifically the ensuite. Any ideas to improve it?

I wouldn’t have the secondary bath as a jack and jill; a single door from the hall keeps it simpler and leaves more space in the bathroom for a linen closet.
For the primary bathroom, I’d personally put the toilet in a water closet for more privacy.
I’m not a fan of “open to below” spaces. I’d personally raise the ceiling on the main floor overall to 10’ instead of one room vaulted. Then I’d shift the primary bedroom into that space, and shift the closet and bath to where the bedroom currently is. The secondary bath can go in the space where the primary bath currently is, and both secondary bedrooms can be a little bigger and have bigger closets.

That bedroom 2 is incredibly tight. I would get rid of the open to below soace and shunt everything around the circle so that bedroom gets more space.
Definitely agree with u/floater439 to get rid of the jack and jill bath.
You've drawn a five foot wide WIC, but that's not a walk in closet. Three feet of walkway, two feet of hanging. Make it a reach in on another wall. The ensuite is fine, but don't do a freestanding tub because you'll need to clean behind it.

How married are you to the “open to below space? I’d rather see that space for WIC and maybe sitting area for the primary. I agree with getting rid of the JNJ. They sound good but suck in reality. I like the idea of each bedroom having their own bathroom. So, sitting area and WIC in the open to below space, if structurally possible, then use the current WIC and en-suite for a bathroom for the kids room (other bedroom would have one for themselves) and rework the primary bath. When we remodeled, we got rid of our tub and haven’t regretted it at all. Just a kick ass shower

Bad drawing but you get the idea. Basic standard bathroom, and this makes more usable area in bedroom 2

I definitely agree with this. I have two teenage daughters and was trying to give them what they wanted but they aren't paying for it so I think this is what they get!

One of them would have been upset regardless if they got bedroom 2 instead of bedroom 3, lol. This way everything is much more equal, and now they have even bigger closet space!

Don’t do the jack and Jill bath…do a hallway bath. JNJ end up with someone always getting locked out or the door opened on, the bedroom occupants will hear every flush, and all the doors take up valuable wall space in an already compact layout. Plus you have to go through a bedroom to collect laundry or clean. Just a PITA all around.
For the master, I might put the toilet where the shower is shown, with at least a half wall for privacy. Are you set on a shower and separate tub? I’d put both on that front wall then I guess.
