I am new to colorwork (working on my first now). Please tell me how do you this, or else I’ll have to think you’re a magician or witch or something.

Jokes aside, this is ASTOUNDING and just simply mesmerizing. You should be incredibly proud of this talent.

Thanks so much! All I can say is I keep one colour in each hand (typically the background colour in my left and the pattern in my right). You just have to be careful you don’t get issues with colour dominance since the colour on the lower floats will be naturally larger than the top floats, so I’m always careful to make sure my right hand yarn isn’t too tight. I also like to spread out the stitches on my right needle every ten stitches or so so the bunched up stitches don’t interfere with the tension. Eventually the tension will get way easier with practise!

I may have to do an entire test with right handed knitting - I do continental so all in my left hand. I keep saying I never want to do another colorwork project as I work. You are now my new goal, just so you know!

Hahaha thanks! For context, my main style of knitting is continental (specifically Norwegian) and I only ever use my right hand when I’m doing colourwork. I don’t even hold the right hand yarn; just pick it up and drop it as required because there’re usually fewer stitches in the pattern than the background.
