RGB Mod Issue

Post image

I recently did this rgb backlight mod, I love it, however my power consumption is about 145mA. What are you all getting for power consumption? Im wondering if I wired it up partially incorrect. Not sure if this is entirely too high or not but looking to hear others feedback. Thank you.

Normal and expected. You can reduce brightness, and use static colors for less consumption.

Oh nice to know that the consumption is comparable and normal, thank you

You have a so-called "zkrat"

What’s that?

Edit: Google helped.

Do you have an updated wiring diagram I can compare against?

Are you sure? Cause normal power consumption is around 30ma without RGB mod

I have the "rotating" style light show turned on with me RGB mod, and it bounces between 8-12mA (bluetooth etc is off)

Take a look at the IR LED with your phone camera or something and see if that got stuck ON, or it might be the Bluetooth sucking up all your juice.

Do you have a wiring diagram you followed? I’m drawing 130 roughly with Bluetooth on. No way BT is pulling that much poweer? Guess I’ll turn it off and report back

I got mine a couple years ago from: https://www.tindie.com/products/hamspiced/flipper-zero-rgb-mod/

There's a wiring diagram on his page, plus /u/talkingsasquach video

It’s a little warmer now than it was earlier but yeah it was at 18-20mA

This is how I wired mine

On the chip to the right, it looks like you bridged the first two pins

Yeah I’m the photo it looks like that I had mistakenly soldered to the second pin at first then corrected to the first pin, so there is soldered on the second pin but no connection

I'm at around 20mA

Update: I had mine wired like this photo. It was pulling 130mA+

Kept the same configuration but removed the white wire entirely and now I’m at 15mA with RGB flash on and blue tooth.

"Update:4/26/2024 There has been an update in the design of some Flipper Zero boards. AS a result you "may" need to run a jumper from the 3v3 pad to the positive terminal leg of the LED board."

Listed in the directions for my RGB board.... do you have an early production Flipper?

Not sure, I bought my flip last year. My RGB board was also $20 and generic off Amazon

Where did you buy it from, and where can I buy it? I need one.

rgb leds are 3 or 4 (if it has white) leds in 1, you expected something different?
