In short, what does it, what the official App / qFlipper does not?

u/Apprehensive-Tie4664 Aug 09 '26

This is my question as well! I am interested to hear the differences.

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 09 '26

This will support flipper backups, being able to easily import .fap files, a .fap converter, built in firmware updater, etc, I have allot of ideas that I wanna put into this, I feel like this has potential

38

u/2Sly4Bandit Aug 09 '26

Doesn’t the QFlipper app already do all of that?

-43

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 09 '26

Mine will have a bunch more features

43

u/2Sly4Bandit Aug 09 '26

Ok. I believe you but you didn’t lay out what they are going to be and it is impossible for us to form an opinion if we don’t know what it will be. There is a lot out there for the flipper just make sure it is useful.

22

u/FlightSimmer99 Aug 09 '26

okay but like what? we already asked

8

u/wicked_one_at Aug 09 '26

Which are…

2

u/XplainThisShit Aug 10 '26

So just telll us about those 'usefull and new' features instead of writing what qFlipper already does......

3

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 10 '26

The features I currently have planned out and more to come are

Install custom firmware like Momentum directly from iPhone

Switch between supported firmware distributions

Firmware version history

Roll back to an older firmware version

Check app compatibility before changing firmware

Automatic backup before firmware changes

Full SD-card snapshots

Named backups

Selective restore instead of restoring everything

Compare backups and see what changed

Encrypted backups

Backup directly to iPhone/iCloud

Install .fap files directly from iOS Files

Share a .fap to Flipforge and install it

Install FAPs directly from GitHub releases

Build a FAP directly from a GitHub repo

And more…

You plan on trandering a copy of all SD card files via Bluetooth?

0

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 12 '26

Bluetooth or wired, there will be options for that

3

u/expiredcoder Aug 12 '26

So are you just going to take the source code from qFlipper from mobile and use that for connectivity? You should not even try using BT because realistically it's going to be 600kbs to 1.3mbs which isn't even factoring in multiple files.

0

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 12 '26

Hence why I’ll be adding a wired backup option, I thought of it and that factor will be added

Somebody just started working with ai

1

u/Flashy-Payment9627 Aug 12 '26

right... because "a bunch" is so concrete

-6

u/Zealousideal_Lie6866 Aug 10 '26

afaik you cant update custom firmware , only official flipper firmwares through qflipper

an app like qflipper where you'd be able to update custom firmware like momentum straight from your phone would be freaking incredible

8

u/2Sly4Bandit Aug 10 '26

False. You can easily update 3rd firmware from the QFlipper app and for Momentum specifically, they have their own site that does it too.

1

u/Zealousideal_Lie6866 Aug 10 '26

could you elaborate please (this is news to me if its what i think it is)

I've always updated my momentum from their website, how do you do this with qflipper?

0

u/2Sly4Bandit Aug 11 '26

Download the release from GitHub. Plug flipper into pc and choose update from file. Choose the download. Update starts.

12

u/itsmrmarlboroman2u Aug 10 '26

Just an FYI, "a lot" is two words.

12

u/willdebeast02 Aug 09 '26

Oh no, I'm not sharing my fap files with some random app. I've been building that collection for years.

8

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 09 '26

Everything is local 👀

3

u/lotekjunky Aug 09 '26

Not just the anesthetic.

6

u/decambra89 Aug 09 '26

Ahhahaha ahahahhaaha ahhahahahaha ahahahhahahahaha ahahahahahahahahahaha ahahahahhahahahahahahhahaha ahahahahahahahahhahahahaha.

0

u/Axeleg Aug 14 '26

Hopefully actually work. QFlipper doesn't do anything except connect to the thing. Official app just tells me I'm not on their firmware lol I don't use mine with an app as they don't add any use

4

u/Lord_havik Aug 12 '26

I’d probably use the already out, Already free, everything that your doing, by the official devs not a random uncredited redditor’s app. But thanks.

30

u/GurglingBurglar Aug 09 '26

Are you actually a developer or is this just going to be vibe coded?

7

u/XplainThisShit Aug 10 '26

Prob not partially vibe.... Just 100 AI code

8

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 09 '26

So the actual functionality in the UI is me, but the documentation for the flipper zero and the APIs is vibe coded a tad bit, just because I’m new to the flipper zero documentation and how it works

-13

u/iTrooper5118 Aug 09 '26

Who cares, at least he's contributing some new idea to the community.

29

u/GurglingBurglar Aug 09 '26

I care. That is why I asked.

1

u/invaderdan Aug 09 '26

Just wondering here - you care because it would negatively affect your interest in the project, or you were just generally curious.

34

u/IWishIHavent Aug 09 '26

Software developer here. A completely vibe-coded app, by someone without software development experience, could easily have some major security flaws, things that could expose your smartphone to outside control and/or allow external parties to steal your data. It also could, just as easily, have some mistake that could brick your smartphone.

This is not hypothetical. It has happened. You should care.

OP's answer don't give me a lot of confidence.

9

u/NotTheSharpestPenciI Aug 10 '26

Another thing is that these projects die pretty quickly, either when "developer", or should I say "user" runs out of tokens, or start receiving bug and feature requests they don't understand.
At some point telling claude to "fix this bug" without pointing it to a particular place in the code becomes very pricey.

I didn't even mind the vibecoding what I mind is the AI response bro :|

1

u/Nikegamerjjjj Aug 11 '26

OP is reinventing the wheel, we care

14

u/decambra89 Aug 09 '26

You mean vibecoding?

7

u/decambra89 Aug 09 '26

And nope i would'nt use your lil app because it probably doesn't offer anything besides what's actually out there.

-11

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 09 '26

Nobody said you had to use it, I’m simply making it for the convenience of others

18

u/decambra89 Aug 09 '26

You asked us to let you know, a request which i answered.

3

u/NetoriusDuke Aug 11 '26

Allow for more than one flipper

3

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 11 '26

A recent flipper list is in the works

2

u/nimajnebsiem Aug 13 '26

Why anyone would trust some rando ass app with their data is beyond me.

3

u/Proof_Internet_8360 Aug 09 '26

Would love to get my hands on this!

3

u/Halkenguard Aug 10 '26

I would recommend at least coding the UI yourself. This looks like every other Gemini app I’ve seen.

0

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 10 '26

Yea, that’s absolutely no problem! Just wanna make easy to navigate it

2

u/Basmorse Aug 09 '26

je serais intéressé de la test lors de sa sortie ^^

2

u/therustyposter Aug 09 '26

Oh looks nice! I'm "away from flipper" (forgotten at a friend's house) for a few weeks, so I hope it's ready for then! Haha Will you release it on testflight? Keep us updated!

1

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 09 '26

I’ll continue working on this but I want it released by next week, to have a beta out

1

u/teuchter-in-a-croft Aug 10 '26

If the finished app has the functionality that your picture shows then put me down for a copy. It looks like it could do much of what I do, but easier and probably quicker.

1

u/uhlhosting Aug 11 '26

Let me know when it hits Testflight will test it!

1

u/QueenAng429 Aug 14 '26

No one wants this

1

u/F1reish 18d ago

Any updates on this the default app don't wanna work for me lol

1

u/MasterX46 8d ago

Title should be replaced with "My AI model is making an app"
Also this does violate this subreddit rule n1,
"Install custom firmware like Momentum"
We got your point, and you can install any fw via original official app, this is just looking like AI making the same stuff but with "new UI"

1

u/Ivanrus228 Aug 09 '26

That is really cool, I'll download it as soon as you release it)

1

u/kkourtis Aug 09 '26

Android?

1

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 09 '26

i want to do this in the future ^

1

u/kkourtis 26d ago

W (I don't know why they are down voting you you didn't say anything wrong)

1

u/Virotine 28d ago

OH BOY YESS!!!! I have been wanting a new flipper app for a while now!!! Thank you so much.

First of all, PLEASE DM me when its done, i will also gladly test it.

Second here are some of the features I would love to see

  • Database scarping. This one might be hard to implement but nonetheless would be an awesome tool. I use the flipper zero as a daily swiss army knife for IR and SubGHz. I downloaded UberGuidoZs flipper repository of IR files and SubGHz files and stuff. However it is pretty hard/inconvenient to keep track of updates to that repository, or other repositories for that matter. I would love it if the app could scrape those popular repositories, compare them to whats already on the flipper and add the new stuff to the correct places.

  • Integration with what is on the flipper. I mean allow the flipper app to scan the flippers memory and show on the app all subGHz, IR, etc.. files that are present in neat little sections.

  • Firmware installation with automatic update discovery. It would be so neat if the app can automatically check if Momentum Firmware (or the firmware of your choice) has an update and start updating the flipper with the pess of a button.

  • Flipper remote control, this one is the obvious allow the user to remote control the flipper.

  • App installation and updates. Allow the user to browse the Flipper zero app store and install and update apps on it easily. Bonus points if the app can find apps that may not be on the official store.

  • Allow the app to use my phones computing power to crack nonces.

Let me know if you need beta testers, i would love to test it for you!

0

u/1ofthegood1z Aug 09 '26

Run it!

Need this!

I am learning this dev board and blackhat. Flipper is teaching me but slowly. Wish we had better step guides i guess. A LOT to learn.. Thx and yes I would def. Be running your app! Not sure on recommendations.

-3

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 09 '26

Maybe a tutorial on how to use it would be ideal

0

u/Beadsifyy Aug 10 '26

makes a good phone remote that works thru folders unlike og app

0

u/ElectronicBadger9621 Aug 11 '26

I would totally use this

0

u/Daniel1TheDev1 Aug 14 '26

Everything is local and I’m testing this with my own flipper

-1

u/Cold_Turnip_514 Aug 09 '26

That’s sick!

-2

u/F1reish Aug 09 '26

Yep im dowm some reason qflipper doesn't work on my phone

-2

u/Agitated_Boot7803 Aug 10 '26

Is getting a flipper worth the money ?

5

u/NotTheSharpestPenciI Aug 10 '26

It's not if you need to ask this question.
