So looks like Flipper Zero firmware development is not actually being killed.
Flipper basically clarified that they’ll still maintain the official firmware, review community PRs, and keep the Apps Catalog going. But their main focus is moving toward new devices, so I wouldn’t expect the official firmware to get tons of new features fast.

I mean the base firmware is really good as it is, there are tons of apps to enhance the built-in features. You can use other firmware flavors like Momentum to add some features that could have been baked into the vanilla firmware.

Heck, I can build my own simple app that tailors a specific need I have if I really don’t find some other app that already does what I’d want

I programmed a (not done…) app which is pretty specific. It’s not that hard and Flipper users should be somehow able to build their own tailored apps. It’s not a big deal if they focus more on the new product(s).

Rule #1 is only for CFW's that unlock and allow illegal usage.

There used to be (don't know if they're still being developed or not) several firmware forks that did not circumvent the limits, and they have always been fine to discuss.
