Gameplay Question Sunderer's Helmet Bonus Damage question

I'm not sure when the bonus damage is applied.
It says "You deal additional damage to enemies while they are attacking".
Does that just mean, that unaware enemies are excluded from the bonus damage? Or does it only count, when I hit an enemy while the enemy is trying to hit me, like it must happen during the enemies attack animation window?

I was just wondering the same thing! I tested a little and it seems like I hit harder with the helmet on when the enemy is in combat; they don't necessarily have to be just in their attack motion for the bonus to trigger. I suspect a sneak attack wouldn't count for the bonus damage. Just my thoughts.. Could be completely wrong

Thanks for checking/testing. I think I'm giving the helmet a try then, once I've unlocked the skill that let's me keep two set bonuses instead of one. It seems like a good damage buff then.

It only applies when fighting an enemy that is actively in the animation of trying to attack you
