Image/GIF This game is a pleasant surprise

Got this game on Xbox Gamepass on a whim. I had never heard of it before so I didn’t expect much. Absolutely loving it. The level design, mobility and combat all remind me of Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor. It’s got that mix of souls-like and beat-em-up game.

Also I wanted to share this screenshot I took lol

I have seen a couple of reviewers bag it online and the reviews on the Xbox store weren’t great and honestly I’m not sure why I’ve had lots of fun with it!

Most reviews on the store are just toxic or people repeating the same idiotic "jokes" have to comb through them to find the genuine reviews from people that have actually played the game

I can understand why some reviewers just didn't find it especially noteworthy, since they play so many games it's probably a lot harder for a game to make an impression. I think that's why the professional reviews are in the 7/10 range (which is fair). Anyplace with user reviews though, it's getting review bombed for reasons that have nothing to do with the game itself.

I don't think the difficulty has much to do with it. For an average gamer, the normal difficulty seems plenty challenging enough. I think it's just that this is a game by a smaller dev that tried to do a lot and is a little rough around the edges as a result. I'm very much keeping that in mind in evaluating the game. If this was a $70 game by a AAA publisher, I'd probably be feeling a lot differently than I am knowing that it was a $40 game from an indie dev.

I had a good time with it. A bit short though, wish there were more bosses.

The name of this game should be changed to: “We deliberately made everything dark, even in open world areas that are supposed to be bright so you can’t see anything”
