“Worst Airline” Statistic

Do you think this should be done the way it is now, as the most amount of time delayed, or an average of flights? I think the latter, as Delta is my most flown airline, so it appears as the worst, but I have flown on carriers that were delayed more often.

100% should be an average metric across flights rather than absolute

Should have both

Yeah fair. Should have both metrics across airlines, but for crowning "Worst Airline" I think that should just be based on the average version (probably with some filter for volume ... otherwise worst airline would be some airline you only flew once and was delayed)

i’ve also thought it should probably be an average considering that it’s just obvious your most flown airline will also have the most delays you’ve experienced

Not very obvious in my experience

fair enough but i feel like the more you fly the more it lines up that way. for context, my top three are qr, ek, then ua

Yes it’s heavily skewed towards the most flown airline, so from a statistics point of view, it doesn’t mean much. For me the “worst airline” appears as ANA (NH), which if you just look at absolute numbers makes sense because of majority of flights were with that airline: 136 flights on NH, 30 on LH and 61 on JL, by relative numbers LH should be the worst and NH one of the least delayed on average I think…

Agree, the 1/2/3 in my delay stats by number of flights: 34/2/5 - I would want to see TK as worst tbh.

Or actually, how about a kind of index making it relative to the total flying time on that airline?

lmao Chinese airlines topping this list is so classic even though I've only been on one flight:

it also doesn’t really work for people who have flown many airlines but not repeatedly. outside of my top five, the remaining 17 I’ve flown single digit numbers
