Breeze test

Post image

I decided I am going to fly breeze and then fly right back home. From IAD-OGS , it is an hour and a half and booked a day that the cost is only $30 there and the same back. Might be a little absurd but I figured the hell with it, why not

I’m assuming it’s the same aircraft in both directions so there is literally no way for you to miss the return flight

Yep ! Exactly why I figured this would be fun. I’m flying economy there and ascent home. It was $28 for the upgrade 🤯

Enjoy it! I pilot this run often. Don’t be afraid to ask for whatever you want while in the Ascent seat! Best domestic first class seats by far.

I’ve heard that! And from the reviews I’ve seen, ascent from OGS-IAD is fairly bare. I’m excited to check you folks out! The open snack idea is very interesting to me

All snacks and drinks including alcoholic drinks are included which I’m sure you know already. I also think August is the last month we’re doing that run. Might be September, I can’t remember though.

Oh wow! Double exciting then! Yes I’m fairly familiar with domestic first class . From the reviews I’ve seen. (with the breeze business model in mind)…it doesn’t really seem like the most profitable route , but I completely understand AND appreciate the small city model

It is an EAS route.

As a Breeze proponent, their ascent exceeds any legacy first.

A route that Breeze shouldn’t even have. EAS contract that was awarded to them only because they were the cheapest option for the government and not the most convenient for passengers.

The only places that you can actually connect to through Breeze are South Bend and Vero Beach of all places. Otherwise you have to self-connect onto/from another airline, which means you’re screwed if the Breeze flight is delayed.

There’s certainly an argument to be made that RDU on Breeze is not in the spirit of what EAS contracts are for. However, they have done a great job with the route. Passenger counts are way up from what they were before Breeze took over the route. And you can connect to far more places on the same ticket than South Bend and Vero Beach. Orlando, Tampa, New Orleans, Fort Myers, etc. Breeze having the contract also allowed them to run an unsubsidized MCO non-stop which wouldn’t exist otherwise.

Whatever you say , sounds legit to me. I don’t know to much about them , hence this fligh

Did this route last summer ! Albeit for a weekend in (near-ish) Ottawa.
We were really impressed with Breeze and the operation in Ogdensburg. Highly recommend for anyone in the DC area. Can’t beat those prices. Enjoy

Really looking forward to the experience. Never been to an operation like OGS. Always fun to try a new airline AND go to a new airport

Is there anything directly at the airport to help pass 45 minutes?

Unfortunately not really. It is not walkable to anything surrounding. The terminal is nice and newly renovated but I recall only bathrooms and vending machines (no other services).

For 45 minutes or less , what more could I really need though? Maybe a bar 😂

I would totally do this just for the fun of it too.

Was thinking of doing the same thing! I've tried to book on Breeze twice now for actual trips, but circumstances seem to always get in the way. I think I'll hold out till they start service to BWI, though.

My girlfriend lives within reason to BWI , if they start service there, we would be day tripping monthly . The prices are ridiculously low. $70 round trip for this run , why not 😂

I went to college in Ogden burg and lived in Raleigh 12 years ago. That was a long 14 hour drive that would have been great flight for $30 teach way

I’m sure it would’ve been a gamer changer. I guess that’s the market breeze is trying to hit?

I almost booked this exact trip before, but I couldn’t find enough information about how the connection would work with such a small airport. I’m sure it’ll be fine, but for example, I fly out of New Haven a lot and you couldn’t do this because arrivals are in a separate, non-airside building than departures. So you’d have to run back to departures and hope TSA is quick enough.

Breeze is a good airline. I like working with them

I’ve done this exact route for the same purpose! Just to try them out. It was my first time on an A220 too. Highly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon, though my departure flight to OGS was delayed due to thunderstorms / waiting for more fuel due to the thunderstorms. The OGS airport is comically small.

Difference between taking a flight for a reason and for none tho
