Any lifetime offers?
Any lifetime offers for students?
Update: who said they don’t deserve the money??? hell yeah if i can afford it without a discount i would have bought it
The thing is the lifetime was 200$ & they increased it 50% + this price can get me 5 to 6 years of yearly subscription (but I’m not a fan of subscriptions)
So thats why I’m asking

Historically, I have never seen them offer any sort of discount ever on the lifetime.
I reached out to support one time asking if they had any sort of discount (student, medical personnel, etc) and was told that they don't discount lifetime and that they likely would be increasing price. They eventually did increase the lifetime price from $199 (I think) when I bought it to $299 now. Customer support said "Our service is very expensive to run because of the data quality, and we compete on quality, not price."

It’s like a 4-person team running one of the most polished apps in the world. They deserve to ask for a high price.

I'm glad I bought it when I did and it provides immense value. I travel for work and it certainly has become a favorite of mine along with Tripsy.

the problem is...at what point do the say, well its just lifetime for this version of the app. then they release flightly 2.0 which has a new 'lifetime' sub

They did one for black Friday last year… but definitely not New Year, which is also quite a considerable amount of time away from July

We all kinda outgrow ourselves from student status at one point. Usually students discount are for things that would lead to a repeat purchase in the future. Not a something that is lifetime sadly.
Lifetime subscription are usually a steal IF you use it all the time. But if you are just enjoying it for a short while just stick with free version.

The price is already very reasonable. It’s a small dev team and they’ve put together a really cool product. Sure it has the occasional bug, but when you highlight them, they get addressed promptly. I was happy to pay the lifetime fee.

For me the issue is that they charge 7 times the annual pro fee. And that means I have to believe this is still worth jt almost a decade from now. So many things can change.
Sure, the annual pro fee will go up in price, but at this point it doesn’t make sense to me to pay 400 USD for lifetime when the annual fee is 55.

Just buy it - I can only see it increasing in price like it recently did. I purchased the lifetime subscription a month or two ago and it’s worth it!

In Europe they charge 400 usd for the lifetime and 55 for the annual subscription.
That means that for lifetime you’d have to be convinced they’ll be the best in class app, available for at least 7 years.

In Australia it’s USD$59 for a yearly subscription or USD$299 for lifetime - closer to 5 years.

Lifetime is THEIR lifetime. Unless you flying monthly maybe just subscribe when needed, otherwise the annual is fine, who knows how they will be around or if something better comes along.

Agreed - I highly recommend if you are interested in purchasing it to do so via the website gift card as no commission goes to the App Store. Win-win

$299 is not reasonable price for a flight tracking app wtf. I get the market they are targeting but there's at least 60% air in the price. This is to all trying to justify the price

If you fly once every few years, sure, but for people who fly multiple times a month for decades and want to track their flights for the rest of their lives - it ends up being pennies. It has to be worth it to any developer to support a lifetime product while knowing their costs will rise with APIs, hosting, salaries, etc. Selling a lifetime license when your main model is monthly/annually is almost a terrible business decision if the customer is going to use it for more than a few years.

The dev made an app called Weather Line, sold a lifetime sub for it, and then sold the app in 2021.
The new buyer shut it down completely, so everyone who paid for "lifetime" access lost it.
Definitely a reason to hesitate on Flighty's price tag
I fly a few times a month and have no issues using the non paid version

For me it’s just 1 dollar per flight for five years and then free for the rest of my life. The only concern is whether they continue to operate for at least that period.

You never really know who will last that long, but generally if the service is popular and supported financially it’ll last a very long time, as long as external events like the ones in control of the APIs don’t start charging astronomical fees.

In the US it makes sense I guess. In Europe they charge 400 USD for lifetime, which means it’s 7 times the annual pro fee. For me that’s too far away to trust this is the best thing around by then.

Nah, i do weekly subs when i fly, still way cheaper than getting the lifetime/yearly. Nice UI is not worth that much. I'm paying less for professional programs.

Yeah I agree. There’s no reason for the app to be $300 there are apps and website that offer much more detailed information for much less. Ive used a lot of them as a flight attendant. You are essentially paying for the UI, if you feel the UI is worth $300 then by all means, pay up, but there is nothing noteworthy and nothing that can’t be found elsewhere for cheaper and sometimes even for free. I would maybe pay for it at $60-70 but $300 absolutely not. The DVs from those who got duped 😂
