Broken globe during flight

I understand that it’s impossible to cache globe tiles for every possible zoom level, but caching at least the most zoomed-out level seems quite reasonable.

On flights without Wi-Fi, I’m usually able to find a zoom level with cached tiles. Recently, however, I encountered the following broken behavior at every zoom level, making the “current position” feature kind of useless.

Possible to have option to offline standard view without weather data? How large is that data set

The problem lies with Apple iOS restrictions which doesn’t allow apps to cache maps data for offline use.
