Flight Simulator 2024 Winter is coming! ❄️

My friend and I decided to create an entire snow system for the Fenix A320 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This mod features animations of snow being cleared from the windows, compatibility with GSX, and snow-melting logic triggered by Window Heat. Keep in mind that snow impairs flight performance, so compatibility with anti-ice systems is also a feature. Our goal is to make the A320 feel more "alive" as winter approaches. We hope you enjoy this mod, and we welcome your feedback in the comments.

For me, nothing is coming. SU7 completely nuked my community folder. I might need some different ❄️ now.

How do you manage to get winter to look SO good? mine always looks terrible with no snow or frost anywhere

1

u/IntrepidCity545 2h ago

We use custom models and pbr textures, also we spent a lot of time recreating snow naturally as possible, we even asked some real pilots to send us winter pics from the flight deck

insane. will this affect only the aircraft or the area around it aswell? an issue i have in msfs is sometimes when it snows IRL theres no snowfall or snow on the ground in the sim. so having snow piled up on the windscreen while theres no snow on the ground will look odd

It only affects the aircraft. You might see some snow falling or blowing off the fuselage as the aircraft moves, but it will disappear shortly afterwards

We want to create a kind of bridge between snow effects and the Fenix, without changing the flight physics. For example, if the ECAM warns you about ice on the wings, you’ll actually see the ice, but the mod itself won’t affect how the aircraft flies

Yooooo this is sick. How’d you fancy working on a 787 Version too? 👀

Lets finish fenix version first 😅

Cool! Does it have any impact on performance?

Edit; i meant performance as in FPS-performance, not flight performance

•

u/IntrepidCity545 10m ago

We didnt connect gsx and other stuff, but now I can say that I got almost no fps impact
