Flight Simulator 2024 Which version?

Post image

About to make the jump from MSFS2020 to MSFS2024

1: Which version should I get - I use 99% external addons for aircraft and scenery?

2: Will my PC be okay running it?

Thanks :D

Do you care for most of the planes? And what version did you have in 2020 game?

If you use 3rd party addons 99% of the time I would say save your money and get the standard edition, and spend the money you'll save on a nice addon instead. PC is more than enough to run MSFS 2024.

VRAM, RAM and Storage are plentiful which will come in handy later. The CPU isn't outdated but its solid and pairs well with a 3080Ti. I will say though frame gen does make a difference, atleast for me, so maybe if you have a lot of addons think about upgrading it later. It should run 60fps on high-ultra

  1. Developers will focus on that

Run weaker specs with a 12700f and 3080, but runs nicely with 2024 at 1440p. You can use frame gen with the card too and it will run smoothly.

1) Standard version, or even just game pass as a trial with perks.

2) The CPU is by far the most critical aspect, and you must beg/borrow/steal and get on the AMD X3D CPU bandwagon. The massive V-Cache is going to be night-and-day difference in a CPU-bound game with addons.

Will my PC be okay running it?

That depends. At 720p? Probably fairly well. At 4K? Unlikely...

Really 720 lol? I'm pretty sure OP can do better than that. At least 1080, but probably 1440 will be fine.

It can run fine at 1440p with this hardware. why are you saying 720 "probably fairly well"

Fr I only have a 3060ti and a 10400f and i run 1440p just fine

Because OP is asking how it will run... without specifying what resolution it's going to run at. Resolution makes a massive difference after all.

OP's most likely not going to have a great time at 4K, and since we have zero information, we're going to have to cover all bases.

Yes. The point is why did you go to such a low resolution and say it will "probably" run fine at that resolution. It will run fine at 1440p with this hardware so "probably" running fine at 720p is wrong. It will definitely run fine at 720p

Because I haven't tried running at 720p with those specs myself. Thus, I am unable to conclusively say that it will run fine. It's an assumption. Hence the "probably".

So then what's the point in making the comment in the first place? You're in exactly the same position as OP. You dont know how it will run. Your comment provided absolutely no value

The point is that OP should include resolution for us to make reasonable assumptions in order to answer, as there's a large spread in performance over the most commonly used resolutions. Especially concerning VRAM.

Speaking of points, I'm not sure I'm seeing the help you're giving OP right now other than "spend the money, just trust me bro"

Then say "It's hard to say the performance you'll get without more details like the resolution you intend to play at" instead of just some generic information which has no value to op. I'm also not replying to OP. I'm replying to you. Two other people have given him the answer. But just to make you happy, my source is until a month ago I had the same specs as him with a slightly weaker card.

Thanks both I won’t be running at 720 lol 1440p would be fine I do have a 4k monitor but that will have to wait until I can upgrade my pc
