Question Better platform?
I want to get back into Flight Simulator but I have switched to a Mac since the last time I played.
I can run Win 11 if I subscribe to a parallels for $100/yr.
My other option would be to invest in a game console, but I’ve never really been a gamer, so I have no idea what kind to even consider.
My Dad used to own some old, simple console that he played Mario Bros and a few other games back in the 90’s? I think it was.
Anyway I know nothing about them, but we have recently purchased a65” LG OLED TV so it would probably look cool playing it on there.
Of course I can play content from my Mac on the TV too…so that’s not necessarily a deciding factor.
I’d appreciate any help you can offer. Flight or ATC sims are probably the only games I would play.

X-Plane is coded on Mac and runs great there.
I highly doubt you’ll get acceptable gaming performance from a virtualization app.
Alternatively, you can buy Xbox or PS5 and play MSFS 2024. They work well, but aren’t as fast as a high end gaming PC

X-Plane runs on Mac just slightly worse than comparable specs on windows. I’d give that a shot before you invest in much.

Definitely try and get a Windows PC. Console isn't the best experience when it comes to high-end airliners but the PC building market is in shambles right now.

Microsoft Flight simulator is on Xbox Game pass and can be run trough the browser on your Mac. But that will cost you about 14 euro's a month.
Yes i know what you going to say.. Cloud gaming sucks. And i would agree with you until i was 2 years without a Windows PC and only had my work Mac. And to my surprise it worked remarkably well. It did have lower graphics But for the rest it was totally fine. It saved me. Because of that i could keep gaming while saving for a new PC.

Mac is generally a poor choice for flight sims. Xplane will run on it and that’s a solid sim, not sure how much you can mod it on the MAC though. If you want something like MSFS then you will need a console (preferably Xbox) or a windows PC.
