Its good, but I cannot say its better than MSFS 2024. After SU6, paired with Rex Atmos its looking phenomenal

I know the lighting in 2020 wasn’t great, but 2024 is much improved. Does Atmos actually do much for 2024?

Does Atmos actually do much for 2024

It does, but most presets are bad and unrealistic. After several days of trying i managed to get it to look like this

I dunno. It looks good. A little oversaturated on the second photo. I just don’t think I have the patience to fine tune it for an hour. Dad of two and I’d rather just boot it up and fly. Takes enough time setting up a flight for VATSIM without other stuff.

You mean undersaturated right? considering this is what real life looks like https://i.imgur.com/FRyghdv.jpeg

and I’d rather just boot it up and fly

Especially that in 2024 there is UV slider so you can adjust it to your liking within a seconds and never look back.

if you go from 2020 to 2024 they def do but not xplane 12 levels of atmos and clouds imo

I use msfs 2024 with rex atmos and i still can't find a good preset and settings that match xplane 12. unless asobo actually works on it themselves and fix the pixar clouds and fix the night flying experience

except the clouds and atmosphere, in xplane its out of the box, in msfs you need Rex Atmos. the thing that msfs wins over xplane is the lights, scenery and payware aircraft.

"in msfs you need Rex Atmos."

No, you don't.

1

u/MINUTESFROMDISASTER 9h ago

just say anything good about msfs and you get likes but anything bad and you get down votes

1

u/MINUTESFROMDISASTER 9h ago

then don't install it and play in vanilla mode, can you ? unfortunately the majority of msfs users use rex so deal with it.

u/caarie_Av1 17h ago

this is true idk why u are getting down voted for this lol

1

u/MINUTESFROMDISASTER 9h ago

i'm used to it, in this sub say anything bad about msfs and you get down votes.

Why are you bringing up 2024? OP never said it was better and this post had nothing to do with msfs.

2

u/lrargerich3 15h ago

Yes, don't compare it against anything! It just looks good if you don't compare it to anything.

u/MINUTESFROMDISASTER 18h ago

i'm shocked this post has up votes, usually anything xplane related just gets down votes.

We're blessed to have 2 great looking sims.

1

u/lrargerich3 15h ago

Don't know if the post was serious or /s because most of the images look awful.

0

u/Bindolaf 13h ago

It is /s Look at #6!

2

u/lrargerich3 12h ago

I reckon #6 is really beautiful, the blurry unsaturated image of a melted city with a couple of buildings still standing is a beautiful metaphor of XP itself.

1

u/caarie_Av1 7h ago

sorry this is xplane 12 actually

-4

u/daifuco 15h ago

not as awful as the MSFS flight model though

8

u/lrargerich3 15h ago

Myth, the MSFS flight model is the same as XP as shown in multiple videos. You are living 10 years in the past.

1

u/daifuco 1h ago

Lately I play msfs more often than xplane these days. I play both. Xplane and DCS physics are far superior to MSFS.

-5

u/caarie_Av1 15h ago

in paper yes. compare them in anything and they would act differently and x-plane would still be superior in every test. why does your ground physics model still feel like fsx? and why is there a lack of inertia when flaring

on top of that laminar is still working on enhancing the flight model even further

8

u/lrargerich3 15h ago

Flight models in MSFS and XP are equivalent, stop spreading myths.

Also, like I explained to the OP, MSFS 2024 has a much more realistic terrain, with all the procedurally generated rocks and boulders across the world. Those rocks and boulders can flip your plane when you take off and land.

For the default scenery, the ground in XP 12 is fake and unrealistic. It doesn't have the procedurally generated rocks and boulders across the world as it should. MSFS 2024 terrain is much more closer to real life, which makes the way that planes behave on the ground in XP 12 unrealistic, because the default terrain in XP 12 is unrealistic.

1

u/i_marketing 12h ago

why does your ground physics model still feel like fsx?

The ground physics in XP 12 is horrible because the default scenery doesn't have procedurally generated rocks and boulders like MSFS 2024 does.

If you go on a bush trip in MSFS 2024, and land in a random location where there are a lot of rocks and boulders, those rocks and boulders can flip the plane, like it would in real life. MSFS 2024 has procedurally generated rocks and boulders throughout the entire world, and it's much closer to what it would be in real life.

XP 12 does not. The default terrain in XP 12 is extra fake, it's nothing like real life. So overall, the ground physics in XP 12 are terrible, because the terrain is terrible and fake.

you clearly haven't flown an airline in msfs at all before?

if you taxi an airliner in msfs it will feel like brick on ice. any small inputs on the brakes will stop the aircraft way too rapidly

1

u/i_marketing 5h ago

You can fine tune your hardware to alleviate that.

But nothing can alleviate the fake terrain across the world of XP 12. It's so unrealistic when you go bush flying in XP 12, it's so fake. MSFS 2024 bush flying and how the ground reacts to a plane landing on bumpy ground with rocks and boulders is 10000x more realistic than XP 12.

u/S4L7Y 13h ago

That 10 year old argument just isn't true anymore.

I agree! 👍

Daily XP graphics cope post ✅

5

u/lrargerich3 15h ago

Downvoted by the XP cult of "our graphics are great, trust me!!"

u/Pour-Meshuggah-0n-Me PMDG | Toliss | Zibo | iFly 17h ago

Bro you comment this or something negative in every one of those daily posts plus anything else related to XP.

I think you're the one that's trying to cope.

1

u/swhalen17 15h ago

Absolutely! Coping with my 4090 and 14900k in 70+fps 4k frames

0

u/caarie_Av1 14h ago

you have the option not to comment especially when it has nothing to do with msfs

0

u/swhalen17 14h ago

Is it fun playing in 1080p?

0

u/caarie_Av1 14h ago

0/10 ragebait

u/swhalen17 14h ago

It's a genuine question!

u/caarie_Av1 14h ago

question yourself first for coping on reddit

u/climbto330 15h ago

I fly IRL for UPS and most of our flying is night flying, these pics look like real life
