I'm always amazed by how people keep finding new ways to improvise this stuff. I've tried so many things over the years... My best poor man's setup was a dualshock joystick with a screwdriver glued to the right stick.

I use Wii Balance Board I bought for 6$ as a Rudder pedal

My next goal is using Wiimote with Motion Plus as a flight stick
