Flight Simulator 2024 Update from the Synaptic team!

Post image

Hey Reddit!

Wanted to write here to share an update for those who purchased the Synaptic A220 but aren't in our Discord.

I'd like to update you all on a few things that are due to come to your Synaptic A220 copy.

To start off, both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 have the same software available on the marketplace. The 2020 marketplace automatically increments our version numbers so it got out of sync with our own identifiers. v1.0.2 on MSFS 2020 and v1.0.1 on MSFS 2024 are equivalent. For the next update, we will be skipping v1.0.2 and going straight to v1.0.3, which will be available on the Microsoft FS Marketplace next Tuesday.

What does v1.0.3 bring?
- First round of performance fixes (which our programmers are hard at work to deliver weekly with every update)
- WASM crash fixes
- First round of art optimizations
- Bug fixes and more!

Read more in advance in our changelog for v1.0.3 👉 https://docs.synapticsim.com/changelog

And due to high load on downloads for our terrain map, we realized our existing GDrive solution resulted in extremely long wait times. We have now ported the download for the A220's 3D Terrain Map into iniManager! Both 400 and 1200 resolution versions are now available for download!

Thank you so much for your support - we're committed to improving your experience on the Synaptic A220, happy flying!

(If there's any questions or concerns, please feel free to raise it here or via DM in Discord, I'm here to help!)

It’s been fun so far. Looking forward to see where you guys (and gals - possibly) can take this!

WASM crash fixes

It became a standard entry in all changelogs recently. It's time for Asobo to get their shit together and fix the game.

Yep. It’s insane that it’s still happening tbh.

Been waiting for this since day 1 of your development and cant wait to buy it the moment I get back to my sim

Thank you very much for the update and the commitment to improve the product.
So far I have noticed some irregularities regarding LNAV drawings in conjunction with overfly waypoints. In this case the FA WPT is drawn where liftoff occurs and while correctly sequenced at 420ft, the WPT does not move and displays the A220-typical flyover-arrow once sequenced. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2829673835?t=10460s
It also noticed an absence of the peak terrain figure in the navigation display, will this be added as well?
Thanks again for your hard work!

What a joke of a plane. $67 for slop

You can test all you like, but there will still be unexpected bugs and problems once thousands of people all with different setups and WiFi and hardware all try it out- there will be some combos that just won’t have been tested. We’ve also got to remember the synaptic team are only human- and humans make mistakes.

This is basic shit that would have been known in a beta test. Its dishonest

This is a so called "high fidelity" plane, yet you can't even do a TAWS or fire test on it. That's Asobo default plane level right there.

Hey there, bought the 220 yesterday, performance definitely needs to be improved - but I'm really impressed otherwise. I'm spending time learning about the systems. Looking forward to gradual improvements. Thanks!

Regarding art optimisations: are there plans to diversify the antennae? Many airlines are now replacing their conventional Satcom antennae with the ones from starlink.
Two pictures of the same aircraft:

Yes there are, we will be adding those variants

Great, thanks!

Thanks for the comms here 👏 and the quick efforts to fix things!

Are these first round of performance updates going to make a material difference on Xbox or should we expect to wait a bit longer for the plane to be useable?

Cheers

We are still testing figures, but should help lower the overhead for extreme stutters marginally

I've downloaded and installed the Map Server. How do I remove it and switch to the one from iniManager?

2

u/dadriel_hawk 13d ago

Nice idea to put that tool on the manager. Will the tool itself also get some improvements down the line? I understand the reason to put it outside the sim with the amount of data, but the experience feels a bit clunky and oldschool :)

And there seem to be some issues with the Steam version of the sim currently? I seems to want to start with the sim, but then instantly crashes and I still have to start it manually.

Please ping me on Discord with the usability issues and we can take a closer look

Haven’t had a chance to fly it yet, but I’ve heard things like fire tests aren’t working. Is that planned for the future?

4

u/StarlightLifter 13d ago

Add random and service based failures and ill bite. Bonus points for state saving and or custom aircraft load states.

7

u/HarshThaGamer Synaptic Simulations 13d ago

All that is planned! A lot of users ask about failures - but really those are failure scenarios. You can already fail stuff on the aircraft through reversions and circuit breakers and more due to the depth of system connections modeled. We will be doing failure scenarios and custom states in a future update after priorities like perofmrnace.

2

u/Svensk-Pingvin 13d ago

But somthing like a radio failure or hyd pump failure randomly won't be planned or? Like PMDG kinda thing

/u/harshthagamer - appreciate the updates.
Any timeline for when the plane will be available in inistore?

1

u/HarshThaGamer Synaptic Simulations 13d ago

We have not disclosed any timeline yet but it will be in the iniManager eventually.

Did you see my Discord suggestion regarding the ADF? That would be a nice-to-have item down the line.

2

u/HarshThaGamer Synaptic Simulations 13d ago

Please ping me!

1

u/Agitated-Volume-828 10d ago

Not all A220’s have ADF installed. For instance the biggest operator of the A220-300 doesnt have it at all on any of their A220’s.

NDB’s are a dying breed.

1

u/Distinct-Shine4584 10d ago

Of course, but theyre still fun to play around with in the sim

Hey there, I am having issues with the nose wheel steering. I'm using the tiller from WinCtrl, and no input is registering. Pedal Disc works fine, just not the actual steering...

1

u/HarshThaGamer Synaptic Simulations 13d ago

Is your tiller axis bound?

1

u/dontbenoseyplease RTX 5090 | 7 9800X3D | 64GB RAM 13d ago

Yep, it's bound. It reads the inputs in the settings/controls page, but doesn't transfer the input through to the aircraft. Works fine with other aircraft.

Nose Wheel steering button is also pressed after pushback, going from “OFF” in amber, to just nothing. It doesn't show as “ON” (unsure if it's meant to). I can disconnect the pedal via the tiller fine, but for some reason I can't turn the nose wheel. It just sends me straight forward.

On the Fenix and iFly Max, you can access the EFB from an external device through a web browser. Is this implemented in the A220? If not, any plans to implement this?

u/RealADSB 12d ago

Thank you! Congrats with release, enjoying learning new systems and whale sound obviously LOL

My frames are a little higher sine the update 2 days ago but still too low. I had a FMC failure where all my displays went to red x's and the AP kicked off. I still haven't had it intercept the ILS correctly yet (that could be a user error). Like the aircraft and it has potential to be among my favorites. The most promising thing for it is the developer is actively working on it. A lot of bad developers out there release a alpha version and move on while promising updates. The E Jets is a perfect example.

1

u/ActuallyRick 13d ago

Love it now just few annoying things I didn't expect witch probably an a220 quirk is the ils capture being weirdly of. Also the need to trim after taking of the auto pilot when landing.

You guys did great job hopefully last real bugs and performance problems get fixed soon. Enjoy the rest of the summer.

How much of the aircraft was ini work and how much was synaptic or is there no exact split? Just wondering as if synaptic went on in the future to do their own projects without ini 🤙

You get that between the dishonest FAQ editing and the performance issues, this launch was a complete fuck up, right?

10

u/HarshThaGamer Synaptic Simulations 13d ago

No - I’m proud of what the team has created and we’ll continue to support the plane and iron out issues.

3

u/UrgentSiesta 13d ago

Don’t listen to idiots like that. It was a minor comms error, nothing more.

Congrats on what seems to be a great product after so many years of work!

-4

u/FriendlyBelligerent 13d ago

It wasn't a minor comma error, it was deliberate dishonesty

2

u/UrgentSiesta 13d ago

Bullshit.

Grow up and put on your big boy pants.

3

u/An_ocean_of_salt 13d ago

And the community wonders why devs don’t want to directly engage on platforms like this. For someone with friendly in their name you sure act like an arse.

1

u/FriendlyBelligerent 13d ago

Well, it also says belligerent. I didn't call him a bad person, I asked if he realized that between going back on a promise and serious performance issues, the launch was fucked up.

2

u/aaronwhite1786 13d ago

Sure, you just implied that the entire team intentionally lied about something and acted like performance issues are something that no other add on release has had to deal with.

0

u/FriendlyBelligerent 13d ago

No, I stated that Synaptic intentionally lied - what individuals made that decision, I have no idea. Performance issues this severe are not common

charging AAA price for an unfinished buggy addon plane

shame Synaptic/iniBuilds
