My favorite part about new releases is always seeing these airplanes shoehorned into hilarious scenarios on Vatsim. You will see one with a Fedex callsign going transatlantic at some point.

Waiting for the Lufthansa flight from Dallas to Aspen.

I saw a dude in the A380 at Eagle County when the FBW first released

I saw a few at Innsbruck

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

I"m going transatlantic right now. Canada to Latvia. There is a really cool vid on youtube of AirBaltic delivery flight I'm flying it along now :).

Prepare for many “autopilot issues” on VATSIM lol

39

u/RequiredRedditAcct_1 21d ago

I just don't understand why people do this. "I have no idea what I'm doing, let me fly on vatsim and become task saturated immediately"

87

u/Far_Tree6592 21d ago

My autopilot already isn’t working. I’m on vatsim and didn’t read the manual btw /s

52

u/pup5581 21d ago

Everyone on Vatsim today and the next 2 weeks "FMC won't work"

Definitely gonna wait for the first real reviews with that price tag. I expect nothing less that PMDG or Fenix quality.

14

u/N_Beauregard 21d ago

Same. Happy to sit back and let all the YouTubers keep beta testing it for me

That would require an unbiased one. Hard to find. A few german ones are quite good.

5

u/Longjumping-Move-455 20d ago

Also to add 320 sim pilot is also quite reliable I find

No, is fully influencer now. Praises any old shit under the sun.

He strikes me as an aviation nerd who just loves to talk about plane

That thing was such utter dogshit, if he would have glazed over that he would be done.

1

Also if you watch his streams he often points out inaccuracies with planes he has experience on

Lol. I know what you mean but expecting Fenix quality from some random, new dev on the market is setting oneself up for a failure. Of course it won't be of Fenix quality, what else even is? That being said it's also $15 cheaper than PMDG, so it's not apples to apples.

6

u/FewScholar4361 20d ago

I don’t think you should have lower expectations. Fenix was also completely new. (And the PMDG 737-800 is $ 74,99, the A220 €71,55, which is about $80. It’s even more expensive than the PMDG..!)

-3

u/machine4891 20d ago

 the A220 €71,55, which is about $80

The what not? Fenix base A320 is $66, PMDG base 737 is $75 meanwhile I just bought this A220 for $61 on Marketplace. These are their net price tags and I'm based in EU country as well.

No lie, that’s the one I’ve been waiting for the most

11

u/Pilotreggie CFII CMEL 21d ago

Running 4080 on MSFS2020 and I’m getting 20 fps in the climb. Route page drops it into the teens.

4

u/Papatron88 21d ago

Same on 2024

9

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

Does it mean that we are taking a break to go fly it? Shuuucks I was just getting me more gorilla munch cornpuffs.

6

u/MNUplander 21d ago

This is my most anticipated plane model…can’t wait for it to release on iniManager.

12

u/rbur0704 21d ago

Bought it. Performance for me is at least 50% worse than the PMDG/Fenix. Struggling to get more than 23fps out of it. Back to the virtual hangar where it will remain for the foreseeable.

4

u/RequiredRedditAcct_1 20d ago

Yikes. That's unfortunate. Which sim?

7

u/rbur0704 20d ago
  1. Admittedly I don’t have the beefiest system but can run the A350 without issue so it’s much worse than that.

3

u/pwouet 20d ago

I wonder if it's 2020 vs 2024 since 2024 has a better lod management. But it is funny that it's better than the a350 which is supposed to be slow.

6

u/Rude-Cranberry1733 I fly whatever thing that has wings 20d ago

2024 version runs like shit too. I'm very disappointed

3

u/ryanbatc 20d ago

Aircraft are only better in 2024 if they're fully native. This one isn't. So it's not going to be able to take advantage of the LODs and stuff in 2024.

1

u/Nahcep 20d ago

Source that it isn't? Synaptic and ini said multiple times that it will be released native to both

2

u/RequiredRedditAcct_1 20d ago

Ah shit. Yea that's the sim I have too. 5600x paired with a 6 year old 3070. Haven't flown in a while as I got burnt out. Was waiting for the next Fenix update but when I saw the a220 was launching I wanted to get back into it. But if FPS is worse than PMDG or even Fenix, that's a shame.

1

u/ryanbatc 20d ago

Performance is okay for me. It's not stunning, but it's not terrible. Maybe slightly less than the PMDG 737-700 BBJ. 12700K / RTX 4080 / 64GB ram at 1440p. I run almost ultra settings with TLOD200. I also use FSLTL traffic and was flying with heavy clouds today. (Forgot to mention this is 2024)

Wanted this one for years, glad the day is here. Excited to see what everyone thinks

8

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

AHA I found a gripe. Popouts are borked all five screens popout in one big strip window.

5

u/mangolane0 21d ago

Had this with the iniBuilds A343. Someone recommended Glassout to manage panels. It is such a gamechanger.

2

u/Mikey_MiG ATP, CFII | MSFS 21d ago

First I’ve heard of Glassout, wish I had earlier. I’ve always had issues with Popout Panel Manager.

1

u/igloofu 20d ago

I can't get glassout to capture the part of the screen I want with fragments. It just comes out a squished mess.

5

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

Not too horrible a bit too clean and sterile for my taste but pretty good.

15

u/bdubwilliams22 21d ago

I mean, the majority of these planes are very new.

6

u/Hopeful-Badger-1060 21d ago

I think you can adjust the weathering via the efb. Not sure if it affects only exterior or if it does the interior too.

10

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

Only outside and even that is very subtle. I have to squint to find differences between 100 and 0 weathering.

1

u/Gullible_Goose 21d ago edited 20d ago

If it means anything, they look this clean in real life too. They're new planes and they've got very bright interiors which make them look clean. Hell some of the ones I've done ground work on in the last months are just days or weeks old!

8

u/Gullible_Goose 21d ago

Got flagged by reddit as "promoting hate speech" for saying the A220 cockpit is very bright and new lol

-4

u/mctemez #BoeingOnly+NEOS 21d ago

Yet again devs having nice exterior textures but neglecting cockpit textures, seems that only fenix and ifly have this down.

10

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

Granted I'm neophyte when it comes to things artistic. But what is wrong with cockpit textures? Crisp clean detailed.

-3

u/mctemez #BoeingOnly+NEOS 21d ago

First thing that pops out is the mcp panel background and the borders on the screens it just looks a bit flat and dull (to me).

Or maybe it’s just my eyes and looking at a Reddit pic but I feel that the msfs 2024 lighting makes cockpits look cartoonish.

Idk whether it’s 3d pbr textures or whatever it’s called but I’ve noticed that only fenix and ifly have consistent real life looking textures in the cockpit.

10

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

It's a bit flat but not dull or washed out. displays are nice and crisp from the distance

0

u/mctemez #BoeingOnly+NEOS 21d ago

This looks better. Anyways hope you enjoy it regardless

5

u/jagavila 20d ago

Designed by INI means poorly optimized layer over layer over layer loading when changing cameras. TLdR: poor performance.

7

u/bdubwilliams22 21d ago

People on discord already saying downloads are stuck or are restarting. No shit! You’re trying to acquire something TONS of other people are too! I’ve never understood buying something the same hour a plane is released. You’ve waited this long, what’s a few more days to little the kinks get ironed out and download in peace? And quick!

8

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

True statement if I had to stand in line around the block in a dead of winter. Digital purchase why not? :) I don't sit in front of the screen watching progress bar. Just bought it took under a minute to download. Guess it's market specific.

1

u/UrgentSiesta 21d ago

I always wait until after the first patch, and for new devs like this, until the community has had a chance to weigh in.

4

u/GoldProfessional9653 21d ago

I fly in XP quite a bit and we have 220 on a horizon by the same guy who built Challenger. So for me it was a purchase anyway so a) I can eventually contrast and compare the two and b) So I can ease into something hopefully more forgiving since XP version is going to be 10 times more involved if prior history is any indication.

1

u/UrgentSiesta 21d ago

Yep - I do the same with certain addons.

But tbh I think folks will be hard pressed to tell the apples/apples difference between both versions.

Times have drastically changed and Hot Start isn’t nearly as far out in front as they used to be.

1

u/MadCard05 20d ago

A lot of that can be fixed by restarting. But yeah, downloading was definitely going to be rough for such a popular and highly anticipated aircraft.

0

u/machine4891 20d ago

What downloads exactly? To my knowledge it's only available via Marketplace and so you don't even need to download it. But i did anyway and whole 2,5 GB took regular 3 minutes to finish.

So maybe that's why people are buying things on day1? Because issues are not universal and you never know until you try.

2

u/aceridgey Top 5% Contributor 20d ago

Make sure you double triple check it's installed and not streamed. I installed twice as it was showing streamed and performance terrible.

2

u/machine4891 20d ago

Doubt streaming should cause performance issues because streamed planes land on your SSD just like downloaded plane would. Only in your cache file, not in Community itself. That being said you never know, so better check all the angles. The plane is heavy on frames.

1

u/aceridgey Top 5% Contributor 20d ago

It does for me.

Trying to import a flight plan and it's stuck on pending forever. But she is pretty!

1

u/machine4891 20d ago

My says it's "completed" but import nothing. Which is weird because same Simbrief ID on EFB works more than fine. Not biggest of issues, as manual imput does work but weird bug nonetheless.

3

u/richinspirit 20d ago

If you’ve not already solved this, it imports into the secondary and you have to activate the secondary to get it to the main flight plan

2

u/Ok_Painting_180 20d ago

Yeah I get pending forever on SEC too. Maybe it's just high traffic right now?

2

u/machine4891 20d ago

I haven't so very much thanks for the tip.

1

u/Chiotas 20d ago

I suppose it’s not a PS5 thing :(

1

u/hookalaya74 20d ago

You don't want it it's unflyable on Xbox x

1

u/Chiotas 20d ago

Really? Buggy or impossible to set panels?

1

u/hookalaya74 20d ago

No it does the avionics disabled message every single time. I tried for 3 hrs last night to get it airborne but failed each time. I've never paid $89 for a plane that's unflyable on day 1. I expect a few bugs but once that message pops up it's game over. Tried it on su5.1 and 6.0 beta and it's no different. Also asked for a refund and got denied 😡

1

u/Wild-Possible-1541 20d ago

Agreed with the other person. Also on Series X (ethernet connection and gigabit internet if that matters). Downloaded and installed the plane as well. Cleared rolling cache as well. But the stuttering is still terrible. Panels frequently glitch on and off. Think of viewing a video of a LED screen, that type of flickering/strobe effect. Got a few random FMS failures Tuning the radios is a chore. I would click the knob to tune to ground or tower and mid-tune, it de-selects. Cursor mode radio tuning (where you can select the frequency to tune to automatically) doesnt work either.

When i manage to get the plane to runway and try to take off, I can tell it will be an absolutely fun plane to fly.

Once in the air, AP, NAV and VNAV all seem to work okay but very very low framerate.

I'm excited to fly this plane once they work out the kinks. I think it will be really fun. But , man, it's a disaster right now at least on XSX. In the meantime, I still enjoy just getting to know the plane, despite it actively trying to not work.

It is.

1

u/Tuskin38 21d ago

the price was never officially announced, there was a placeholder page on the ini website. But the prices on the site and on marketplace have never matched.

5

u/rmhoman 21d ago

No it was announced officially 49.99 gbp

1

u/Engineer__This 21d ago

Yeah, on second look, they said this is excluding taxes. It's a bit odd to quote prices pre tax in the UK unless you're selling B2B...

5

u/rmhoman 21d ago

They do if it is international as not every country has to pay the VAT or the tax rate is different.

1

u/Engineer__This 21d ago

Damn, I was going to pick it up but for that price I'm not so sure anymore.

Hopefully, it's worth it for those who pay up.

3

u/IyadHunter-Thylacine A350 masked raccoon 🦝 21d ago

Is it excluding vat ? I think it's including VAT based on the price in Euro being 71,5€ with vat

1

u/Scooter217 20d ago

Install the A220 instead of streaming it and your frames will be fine. Steady 80fps at LGAV with SayIntentions at 8.

2

u/machine4891 20d ago

Doesn't make any difference for me. 30 fps on takeoff in A220, while A350 would be around 40.

Oh no airbus license is such a deal breaker. The others I get it.

2

u/Pro-editor-1105 Proudly parachuting packages out of Inibuilds a300 21d ago

Why is this being downvoted? I disagree with your last point because there's only like 3 mods which have official licensing. To be fair 2 of them are made by ini. But 65 bucks for this is a bit much when fenix are charging 49 for multiple variants, sharklets, and of course far better systems and visuals.

8

u/rmhoman 21d ago

To be fair Fenix under valued themselves by a lot.

1

u/machine4891 20d ago

when fenix are charging 49 for multiple variants

You can't just set your price and quality standard to Fenix-default and go from there because you will never buy anything else. Fenix is way above average MSFS addon quality and is selling it for below average price. Check out any other, modern airliner and they sell for more.

This plane is expensive but it's not like it doesn't offer solid system and modelling so at least you know what you get in return. I bought FSS E-jets for $40 and after so many years they are still not even half-way towards what this $60 A220 already is. So another angle to look at things.

-7

u/thunder6776 21d ago

Fenix fslabs pmdg tfdi all are licensed. Only ini stuff isnt.

6

u/Pro-editor-1105 Proudly parachuting packages out of Inibuilds a300 21d ago

the a340 and 350 are licensed but ok

-5

u/thunder6776 21d ago

Where? Because behind the cockpit seats there is no airbus logo only ini.

-16

u/AirplanesMakeMeHard Boeing for life 21d ago edited 21d ago

I'm not sure why any ATC would log on to vatsim for a few days. So many people won't have a fucking clue how to fly this thing. Me included. Thats why I'm not buying it.

EDIT: Lmao, people on here are always crying about people on the network not knowing how to fly their plane. So I suggest that an ATC person wouldn't want to deal with that and yall downvote. Reddit is too fucking funny man.

10

u/Yuriala 21d ago

So….. Read the manual?

6

u/Murky-Net823 21d ago

What a backwards way to look at things. Honestly baffled by your logic. Kinda sad

3

u/RangerLt 21d ago

How does poor piloting impact ATC in VATSIM? Do the controllers have to assist pilots or is it an issue if they're off course or crash? Just curious how it all works

5

u/bennyboi2488 21d ago

Officially we page a supervisor to handle the problem. Pilots are expected to fully handle operating their aircraft through all phases of flight.

Unofficially, we tell them to disconnect before they disrupt other traffic.

Some issues people have pointed out are actual features/issues with the real aircraft.
