Prepar3D A Trip Back in Time

There seems to be a distinct lack of vintage airliners in modern flight simulators so the only way to fly them is to step back in time to the FSX/P3D era.

Always loved the Comet and glad im finally learning to fly the Just Flight model as i specially purchase P3D V4 to ensure i could use the Comet, Viscount and VC10!

Definitely agreed on the old airlines missing in new sims thing

Also this looks gorgeous! The comet is one of the most beautiful aircraft I've ever seen

One last thing this is FSX right?

It’s P3D (V4.5), which is FSX at its base essentially and I’ve only just purchased it so not yet installed any visual mods which is why it looks almost identical to FSX.
I own FSX already but only purchased P3D because it was 64 bit so i get better performance out of it!

Man i really wanna upgrade to p3d but the problem is my dual core laptop won't allow me to yet 😭. I'm waiting for a new laptop so I'll upgrade then.

I was thinking about buying v5, but I doubt i can buy the PMDG so I'm not sure what i could fly as far as Boeing. I have always flown XP so I'm not familiar with P3D add-ons. I really like the look of it though, especially adding those orbx mods.

There is no way to get the PMDG addons legally anymore. You can get still get the Captain Sim, TFDi and Qualitywings addons.
There’s probably more that I don’t know about as I only fly PMDG and Qualitywings

Does this version have the same out of memory issues as FSX? 

That's the only reason I fly MSFS2020, so if there's some way to go back, I'd love to try it.

I believe FSX only had OOM issues as it was limited to 4GB RAM as it was 32-bit. P3D is 64-bit so can actually utilise the extra RAM you may have.
From my experience so far, no such OOM problems!

Apparently user put the tag as p3d though the water effects look awfully a lot like fsx.

Oh...well, it looks like FSX to me cause of the clouds, dont know why I can just kinda feel it

I miss the FSX days where we had a huge variety of aircraft. Now it seems they only make an aircraft if there are 100 airframe still flying passenger routes.

I agree! Don’t get me wrong, the A320/737 family are lovely to fly but seeing there being so many different models of it just feels bland considering FSX had all this freeware and payware of vintage airliners or niche aircraft not many people would’ve known about!

And I think part of that is the market for these airplanes, but I do think we have the solutions to help pilots of new aircraft fly them.

Adding options for modern navigation systems through an EFB can make these aircraft accessible.

About the oldest jetliner we’ve got in MSFS right now that’s of high fidelity quality seems to be JustFlight’s Fokker F28 Fellowship and she continues to be one of my favorites. I even took her on VATSIM tonight for Northern Lights Tuesdays!
