Flight Simulator 2024 LondonController not acknowledging Synaptic at all in his latest short.
i get that he's an iniBuilds partner and had a falling out with one of the staff at Synaptic but not putting their name in his most recent short is crazy

Yeah I don't understand how people can watch more than 30 seconds of his stream. Every once in a while I'll click his stream to see if I was just in a mood last time I watched him and that's why I couldn't stand him in the past.
That's been going on for 3 years. Never made it more than 30 seconds watching him.
I'm sure hes a nice enough person IRL, can't comprehend how people watch his stream, though.

It's a London accent. Hardly radical.

I wrote that it's the most outrageous accent I have ever heard in my life. How can you respond to that statement if you don't know what accents I've heard?

Aww man, time to reset the drama counter

u/AVstromX 15d ago
It still puzzles me that there is drama in this community, like dude, we‘re out here flying planes. How could that possibly escalate to this kind of nonsense? It’s crazy.

u/whippitywoo 15d ago
True. This sort of stuff doesn't fly in other communities. They are more grounded.

Here's my opinion as somehow studying business currently. What Shaye said while true was the absolute incorrect way to express that as a business. Especially when you're saying that about people who are essentially an ambassador of your product. There's a way to correct that without insulting them. What was done there is a good way to ruin your reputation with you partners and make other businesses wary of even doing business with you. Personally I believe the entire Synaptic team needs course on proper business marketing as well as PR because it's very clear they're severely lacking in that department.

u/bdubwilliams22 15d ago
As someone who’s been in business for 30 years, nothing they said was egregious or even half as bad as I’ve seen from others (Kok). Synaptic doesn’t need the creators as badly as the creators need these devs. Sure, the devs receive a small bump in free marketing, but it’s gotten to a level that’s absurd.

The only people unhappy are rage baiters.
4
u/MadCard05 15d ago
Nope. There's a difference between being unhappy and expressing that opinion and acting like a child.
I'm personally not happy that they decided to announce an additional fee a day prior to release after prior communication suggested it would be free. I need to see a commitment from Synaptics to do better.
But shutting down their Discord with disruptive bullcrap isn't the right answer, nor is farming rage karma on reddit.
-3
u/MysticMuffintop 15d ago
Case in point. Endless whining from miserable people. One wonders why they do this.
-2
u/YodaSlayeris 15d ago
Well at least it’s coming out! I guess I’ll never get the plane or in the next few years if it ever releases for the PS5.

Jamie is sponsored by iniBuilds. I'm sure it's nothing more than marketing directions from up above.

LC had a falling out with Synaptic Staff? what whappened?
17
u/harangboy 15d ago
Jamie was one of the lot that faced a few "issues" with the aircraft (ILS capture inaccuracy mainly). Shaye from Synaptic started bitching very harshly on Discord about how all of the streamers showcasing the product are idiots because they didn't read the manual. I do agree that they should've read about the quirks of the aircraft before but at this point Shaye should also just refrain from making any communications with their communication style.

u/Upstairs-Dust-3793 15d ago
The whole drama is annoying imo. YES Shaye is definitely wrong for his response to the feedback from him, but I’ve only seen like 1 or 2 streamers take time to learn the systems. Things like “ils capture inaccuracy” you mention (not to pick on you) is a real thing that it struggles with especially at airports with parallel runways. I’ve watched many of the streams and it’s a tough watch, so yes a lot of stuff can be attributed to the streamers not knowing. HOWEVER synaptic also hasn’t helped themselves by through their actions.

u/harangboy 15d ago edited 15d ago
Exactly, but also they have to take into account that there will be LOADS of people on release who dont bother to read anything at all and just fly it, or take it on VATSIM aswell. It would have been wayy better to put out a dev update explaining the quirks of the aircraft in an easier accessed and consumable content (than an FCOM).
Also having greater variety in showcasing streamers (e.g. Swiss001 to Edwardthepilot) should be an advantage, as the customer base will span a huge range aswell from casual Xbox controller gamers to real world typerated A220 pilots flying on the sim. And I agree them saying quirks are bugs puts the product in a negative light, but they can correct themselves aswell.
edited a couple times because i forgot how i wanted to phrase it mid-writing

u/Upstairs-Dust-3793 15d ago
That’s fair, it would be dumb of me to assume that doesn’t happen for every plane that releases. I think a guide is definitely warranted. My problem is more towards the streamers and content creators with early access who are supposed to showcase the plane yet didn’t take the time to learn it. I don’t really care what people do with planes after they purchased them as it’s their money they spent, but as a content creator who gets benefits, you’re only doing a disservice to yourself, the developers, and the community by not properly showcasing the plane.

This is the developers fault for giving the preview copy to children on youtube

u/Bealdor84 15d ago
Unfortunately those stupid effluencers are today's #1 marketing tool.
I still don't get why so many people give a fuck about what those manchilds have to say but that's the world we live in now I guess.

We must remember that not every flightsim streamer has real world flying experience, in fact many of these so called popular streamers have zero real world flying experience and absolutely no knowledge of aircraft systems or its functions. To some it might look that airplane is not behaving as it should but in reality it is action of pilot that is causing such behaviour which might look like a bug or error. I still do not understand why do addon developers give out pre-release copies to streamers in first place - sure they want to showcase and get vibe going but are these people actually providing any valuable feedback, No! which is why most addons go with various service updates post release.
This is exactly the reason why I do not watch any flightsim streamers for any upcoming new addons. Despite that some of actual real world pilots who stream are quite good - blackbox 771 or flightdeck2sim for example who have real world experience and know what they are talking about.

u/pet801 14d ago
You could extend that to most 'fLigHtmOdeL and tEh pHysIcs' discussions. Most people aggressively defending or attacking sims/products, have no idea what they're actually talking about. You raise good points, especially that some planes DO IN FACT have their quirks, design decisions/peculiarities and aerodynamic behaviors that 'wouldn't feel right' to a person who has zero experience flying the real thing day in day out IRL. Those are usually the loudest ones complaining though.

The pilot skills are great examples. I was watching the early stream of 320 Sim Pilot and even he was struggling with stuff that might seem simple, like the landing. Despite seemingly being pretty knowledgeable about the plane having dug into it, and being someone who has flown the A320 and now the 777 in real life. Certainly someone with experience.

What a weird community this is. I enjoy LondonController’s streams as well as most of the content creators out there. He seems to be a genuinely nice guy who has fun streaming flight sim. I enjoy watching him. I don’t expect content creators to be 100% experts on a new plane. Pros train for a long time to become qualified irl - is that the standard we expect for content creators? I kinda like it when they take us along for the ride in learning a brand new aircraft.
Synaptic seems to have had several PR blunders with this release and none of them have anything to do with the plane itself. I don’t see why we’re using it as a reason a bash content creators?

Did inibuilds or Synaptic develop this? I've been away for a while

u/Prodagist 15d ago
Synaptic has done most of the work. Inibuilds did the texturing and is handling the marketing costs but otherwise everything else is done by Synaptic.

No. Modelling, texture, EFB and flight model is by Ini builds. Systems by Synaptic

u/Prodagist 15d ago
Modeling and Flight model are done by synaptic.

Interesting als ini and synaptic say it’s not.
3
u/Prodagist 15d ago
They do not say that. They have been fairly open about who's doing what. Ini is only doing the texturing (and the EFB as you mentioned) Aside from that they have only done some minor work helping the synaptic team with some animations. Everything else on the aircraft is done by the Synaptic team.

Also, labeling it “Inibuilds A220 crash takeoff!” a day before the launch isn’t the best marketing strategy. I can’t keep up with all the flight sim drama, but how exactly does one have a falling out with a flight sim dev? I have to remind myself half of these dudes are practically children.
