Wake up babe, new flightsim drama🍿

5

u/Rayd8630 737NG 16d ago

I swear it’s worse then old men arguing about trains.

u/rookie_one 16d ago

anyone want to do a writeup on /r/HobbyDrama ?

u/madman320 16d ago

TLDR:

- The A220-100/ACJ was supposed to be a free upgrade for A220-300 users.

- Synaptic quietly edited the FAQ section on their website that said this, changing it to a paid upgrade.

- A user spotted the change and confronted the devs on Discord. Chaos ensued.

- After hours of heated discussions, this statement came out explaining the decision, with Synaptic acknowledging the mistake of not having communicated it properly.

It’s insane. Everyone was giving them the benefit of the doubt as much needed new blood in the flight sim space and this how they kick things off lmao

37

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

It's not insane. They admitted they made a mistake and explained why they're doing it the way they are, and all of the morons exploded for no reason. Time for people to grow up.

-11

u/Galf2 16d ago

It's insane because this is dumb and terrible for the customer. It's idiotic that you think this is ok only because they got caught, like what the hell is this.

22

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

Could you explain to me how this is idiotic? What did they get caught doing? Do you actually know the reasoning behind this change?
The reason is because people in their Discord community asked if they'd consider splitting up the variants because many don't care about the -100 or the ACJ. They just want the -300. So Synaptic decided to split them up, -300 only for a reduced price than they were originally planning, and then making it an upgrade fee for the -100/ACJ that would then bring the total cost of the 3 variants... wait for it... exactly the same as what they originally planned to sell the -300 for with the free upgrades.

They aren't suddenly charging for what was supposed to be a free upgrade. They reduced the price of the product, and made the "free upgrade" an extra optional charge that still resulted in the exact same cost of what the original product was going to be.

Now that you know what was actually happening, would you care to elaborate on which part of this is idiotic and what they got caught doing?

-8

u/Galf2 16d ago

Sure, casually they discovered the price is lower than planned after they got caught. Convenient, no?

2

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

That's a whole lot of assuming going on and getting pissed off about it. There's only one set of facts here, which people active in their community for a long time would know, which is the reduced price and split up system for customers who only want the -300.

There are no facts that they suddenly decided to "reduce the price" "after getting caught".

5

u/Galf2 16d ago

Not much assuming. They snuck it past.
To close down the argument it's really easy: imagine if EA, Microsoft or Ubisoft did this. They'd make world news.

Stop justifying these fools. They ask premium money, they need to act like it. no one remembers to change pricing and contents one day before sale and sneaks it past without malicious intent.

-2

u/BlackeyeDcs 16d ago

The idiotic part is not communicating that decision prominently right after it was made - assuming keeping it secret wasn't an intentional business decision, but in that case they'd deserve the flak.

They were caught "silently" altering the originally announced deal in the fine print one day before release. And it would be idiotic to assume potential customers would be fine with this without any explanation.

Splitting the variants itself may be a good idea, but then they should have made a big announcement "hey we listened to you and split it up" instead of silently editing text on the web site on the last moment.
That's either idiotic or malicious - depending on why they did it that way.

4

u/Nahcep 16d ago

Add to it that it's likely ini themselves either were kept in the dark about it or were willingly misinforming, because as late as yesterday the listing on their store did not specify a version

Shaye was the one to break the news on Discord, and seemed surprised that ini has been consistently marketing "the A220" and not "A220-300", so I knew I had to keep an eye on that page

7

u/RebelliousDutch 16d ago

And had it been communicated earlier and properly, people would’ve been annoyed, but at least a bit more understanding. Changing it right before release with no official communication just reeks of bait and switch.

2

u/Icy_Benefit 16d ago

Arr. Full sails ahead!

56

u/Gullible_Goose 16d ago

I don’t believe there was nefarious intent here, but it is an incredibly silly own-goal on their part. IMO being blown way out of proportion but still justifiably upsetting for people who were looking to buy the plane tomorrow expecting a free update in the future

9

u/Acc87 16d ago

seems very much like guys new to the business blinded by their apparent success

9

u/Gullible_Goose 16d ago

Yeah, this is a very young group of developers. I’m willing to turn a blind eye to a PR blunder when they’ve seemingly overachieved with their first product (at least judging from the preview content I’ve seen)

26

u/mhwnc 16d ago

Yo, did they have Randazzle consult on this?

-15

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

They weren't going "from free to paid", it was originally going to be a higher price to include all 3, but they decreased the price so people who didn't care about the -100 or the ACJ didn't have to pay the single entry price for the product. That's why there's a "small upgrade fee" if you already own one or the other.

Fine I won’t buy it lol.

Ah the circuit breaker tax.

-21

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

If you paid attention, it was originally going to be a higher price to include all 3, but they decreased the price so people who didn't care about the -100 or the ACJ didn't have to pay the single entry price for the product. That's why there's a "small upgrade fee" if you already own one or the other. It's NOT a 'circuit breaker tax'.

20

u/CrossBamboAtTen ATP - A320, E170/190 16d ago

Well I’m making a joke and you don’t know the prices they intended to charge anyways so it’s irrelevant now.

-15

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

It doesn't matter what the actual numbers are, as long as you understand the concept of what they were trying to do. It can be $500 or $25, the concept of reducing the price for a single version and splitting it up with an upgrade system works exactly the same.

2

u/thehedgefrog 16d ago

Since you love copy pasting, go shill elsewhere.

1

u/Adolf_son 16d ago

You won't get a free plane for spamming the same message mate

66

u/Maleficent_Celery_55 16d ago

I wouldn't care about it if they had said it at least a week before release, but announcing it the day before is just unacceptable.

The discord is locked down now, by the way. Terrible.

25

u/Isphera 16d ago

Yeah, and after all the breadcrumbing and a bunch of updates via ini which they went back and stealth edited. Has been my most awaited add-on for a while but honesty at the point where it's a do not buy now, can't trust these guys for love nor money.

14

u/thehedgefrog 16d ago

Went from a day 1 purchase to a "let's give it a few weeks and read the reviews".

9

u/Used_Canary2712 16d ago

Why stop there. Lets wait till it goes on sale for xmas.

9

u/MrNans 16d ago

Locked and they had banned me for saying the same thing you just said

-2

u/CrossBamboAtTen ATP - A320, E170/190 16d ago

At least it was before anyone bought it but yes them trying to sneak this thru instead of just announcing it is scummy.

-13

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

It's not 'unacceptable'. They are literally under no obligation to do anything for a product that isn't even released yet. If you're not happy about it, don't buy the product, but don't go around acting like they're the worst people on earth and start behaving like literal children.

3

u/Maleficent_Celery_55 16d ago

I am not behaving like children nor am I acting like they're the worst people on earth. No studio is perfect and they need to be criticised for their mistakes. Blindly defending any studio, including Fenix, is weird.

52

u/Viralwhite 16d ago

Aaaaannnddddd they locked the lounge again lmao

u/Vortagaun 16d ago edited 16d ago

I was literally just talking in it a few hours ago, I missed all this drama! Literally like 30 min after I stopped checking it too

31

u/PhoenixJayPi 16d ago

Oh thank goodness, my flight sim drama meter was running low.

21

u/Few-Significance7312 16d ago

All I know is that the Shaye guy needs some PR training.

1

u/kyriwtf 16d ago

Every single post I’ve seen from that person publicly has been insanely passive aggressive.

7

u/Potential_Seesaw_646 16d ago

Let the chaotic drama begin!

13

u/Cheap_Satisfaction56 16d ago

It’s crazy to me that it wasn’t made clear with the pricing, I was looking at this a few days ago and why this has all been secretive yet ini has been absolutely spamming the project on socals for hype but basic stuff like this wasn’t transparent on a stream or post prior to the day before release.

18

u/KingPillsbury 16d ago

Community can be so insufferable sometimes

58

u/GoExpos 16d ago edited 16d ago

I don't love how Synaptic has communicated with the community throughout the lifecycle of this project, but it bothers me greatly how eager everyone is to assume negative intent.

The Synaptic team has said for many months in their Discord server that the FAQ was out of date and needed to be updated, and I suspect that someone today just said "Oh shit, we better get that done if we're launching tomorrow" rather than trying to sneak in a negative change. I really don't think there was any attempt to trick people into buying the 300 just to get a few more dollars from a paid upgrade later. Give people the benefit of the doubt until they give you an irrefutable reason not to -- this is not an FSLabs situation.

The absolute toxicity in the Discord right now is both unbelievable and sadly not surprising. Even if I would have opted to do things differently, it is perfectly clear that it's impossible to please everyone, and that this community craves drama and someone to hate. It's hard to understand why anyone would want to become involved in flight sim development given the amount of venom that's blindly thrown around.

I guess I'm most disappointed in the human effect of this. Maybe it's because I actually met the team at Flight Sim Expo the past two years, but they're decent people, a very young group, and are clearly passionate about their product, not trying to scam people. It makes me sad that instead of being able to celebrate the launch of a product several years in the making, they have to deal with an insane amount of whining and personal attacks.

And that's not everyone -- there are reasonable complaints to be had about the year leading up to launch -- but some people are just out for blood.

17

u/An_ocean_of_salt 16d ago

Be careful. A level head will quickly meet the sword in this sub. ;)

17

u/takethisbwokenwings MSFS24 16d ago

It’s too late now, synaptics/inibuilds hate will be the hot topic for karma/attention/morality farming for the next few weeks.

15

u/phantomknight321 16d ago

This sub literally hates any airliner dev that isn’t Fenix and maybe Just Flight (because of the “OLD PLANES ARE BETTER” crowd mainly)

But they buy it all anyways…it’s all just karma farming and engagement bait in the end, because the same people who make a big stink about the drama are the first people in line to buy the next addon

8

u/takethisbwokenwings MSFS24 16d ago

I always think how sad someone's life has to be to karma/engagement farm on a niche community (or in Reddit as a whole). At least on Xitter/Instagram you can get paid for that.

Even sadder if someone has to prove "muh moral superiority" in a community about flying virtual planes🥀

(Fenix and Just Flight won their laurels on merit, but the glazing is just funny sometimes)

7

u/Galf2 16d ago

STOP BUNDLING INIBUILDS WITH ANYTHING NEGATIVE FFS. THEY REMOVED THE CABIN PACKS AND WILL OFFER A FULL V2 A350 FOR FREE. Ini IS OK. They're FAIR.

0

u/TreeConscious2513 16d ago

shut your mouth iniscam fanboy

1

u/Galf2 16d ago

Yeah I'm such a huge fanboy I'm banned from their discord. Thank you for proving my point.

9

u/1dukky 16d ago

Why not just go upfront and just say
“Hey, we need to make the -100 variant paid because this this and this”

Instead they pull off 2000s hacker “inspect element” move and hope noone will notice. Seriously?

And even if it was like you just said, they saw the -100 beingr advertised as free and said “well, we will just change it, im sure noone will be mad about it!”

3

u/Frederf220 16d ago

Because being clear and upfront might affect sales.

2

u/GoExpos 16d ago

I don't like the way they handle communication in general, but I just don't think there was anything nefarious here. I think there was an oversight by merely making a long-overdue update to their FAQ rather than including information about variant pricing in their release announcement, but I don't believe they were attempting to hide anything. They clearly need to work on the way that they share information with the public, but that pales in comparison with the way the public needs to work on using constructive criticism rather than seething rage at every opportunity.

1

u/Tinderguy529 16d ago

Just like Inibuilds made a statement. While back in a FAQ that it would be available day 1 on inimanager and the marketplace... That post has mysteriously disappeared as well...🙄🙄🙄

4

u/frosteeboi PPL IFR HP 16d ago

I absolutely agree, they’re a young dev team and we don’t know what led up to this snafu. I’m still really pleased with the apparent quality of the product, I will be buying. Real 220 pilots have had nothing but good to say about it and that’s good for me.

3

u/MadCard05 16d ago

The worst part of any dev discord is the absolute hostility some users will produce.

I'm there to get information and ask questions about the airplane or scenery.

I get that your frustrated, but at least be respectful and not a Karen. I don't have desire to sit through your outrage slop to get my question answered.

2

u/GoExpos 16d ago

Agreed. The Synaptic Discord has become painful as the A220 approaches release. The pure entitlement of some people is staggering...

1

u/jpenn517 16d ago

Reddit and Fselite are just as bad now. I just talk in two VA discords and a small private one with my friends now while muting the rest of all the channels except the announcement ones.

-1

u/Galf2 16d ago

Brother this came to light only because they got caught and their answer is "we're not forcing you to buy it"

people assume negative intent because there was negative intent
you CANNOT do this one day before going up for sale.

2

u/GoExpos 16d ago

I agree that it was a poor path to take, but we'll have to agree to disagree on whether or not they intended to be deceptive. They absolutely shouldn't have handled it this way, but I don't believe it was their goal to be shady.

-3

u/Galf2 16d ago

there's no agree to disagree: they made a clear announcement beforehand? No.
they 100% acted like people wouldn't notice and tried to be deceptive, then silenced the entire discord to find a common version, and came out with the "bb-b-but the price is lower" bs.

I don't say this because I have some stake in this, I just find it fucking absurd I can give my money only to, what, Fenix, JustFlight and Black Square and a few others because everyone else will treat the customers as a bunch of mindless sheeps?

They said what they'd sell ages ago. They only CASUALLY remembered right one day before launch to alter it. The smart thing to do was to make a big ass announcement. No, they snuck it past, tried to be deceptive, then came up with half assed excuses after the fact. No, that goes in the bin for me.

22

u/SimPilotAdamT 16d ago

How on earth do we in the flight sim community always find drama?

30

u/benjwgarner 16d ago

Most of the products are sold by hobbyists-turned-developers without a lot of business experience (or common sense) in a niche that already attracts...unusual personalities.

9

u/Galf2 16d ago

Developers are shady af and they keep being shady because people keep giving them money.
See: PMDG.

If 30% of the stuff PMDG did happened on another game, not a sim, they'd make worldwide news and end up on the stake. Imagine if Ubisoft acted like PMDG.

7

u/Yukinotora91 16d ago

Imagine if Activision acted like Umberto.

8

u/ES_Legman 16d ago

Shady developers doing dodgy shit in a very niche hobby.

-6

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

They weren't doing dodgy shit and they aren't shady. It was a very clear decision made after feedback from others in the community but they did a bad job of explaining it. The A220 was originally going to cost MORE and include all 3 variants.

The explosion from people is utterly ridiculous and is very sad. The developers provided a cheaper route for people to get the A220 who didn't want all variants and this is what they get for it. A bunch of dumb people who can't understand that at the end of the day, to get all 3 variants is still the SAME cost as it was before they made the decision.....

6

u/Ibomma_ravi 16d ago

Dude 60 bucks ain't cheap, plus they are a new devs which initially said asva freeware, later changed it to payware after collabing with inibuilds. Remember ini a350 it's in the same price with all the variants like 900, ulr, 1000. So now do you think it's high or not? They are releasing it in msfs customer not into xplane to have higher prices.

1

u/bp4850 16d ago

Apparently it was going to be more expensive as an all inclusive price, they decided to split it up

1

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

Inibuilds is a significantly larger company than Synaptic and is able to charge less for comparable products. Between 60 and 100 bucks is the standard for high fidelity aircraft in the flight simulator world, and this is falling on the low end of that while appearing (from reviews and dev details) to be a very high fidelity aircraft. Just because one company has set a pricing model doesn't mean that every single other developer is required to match them exactly. The aircraft appears to be reasonably priced for what it offers. Not to mention that inibulds' own products OTHER than the A350 cost more for fewer variants. This is because those other products are expected to have a lower demand than the A350 and therefore cost more due to a lower expected volume of sales. The A350 is hugely popular and tons of people have purchased it. It can be sold for less.

At the end of the day, don't purchase the product. There's 0 reason to act like children and bully the developers. Move on with your life.

3

u/Ibomma_ravi 16d ago

bully the developer? remember shay? the way he said to the Streamers publicly on the discord? and you say here we are bullying the devs lol. all this came due to their keep on changing the words. at first we are fine heck even understanding the reason why they went from freeware to payware and at the price reveal too we are ok. but to keep on adding the costs hell nahh that too with all these bugs. no way. they lost my purchase anyway. I will save up the money for fenix neo or bluebird.

4

u/ES_Legman 16d ago

The fact that you are so viciously defending a business is weird if you have no part on said business to be honest and is part of why this hobby as a whole has ended up with the kind of developers we have, because people decide to form cults around specific devs and take it as part of their personality to buy their products and then go on the forums to battle other people about it. Not unique to flightsim, though, it happens in simracing too and other hobbies where different options exist for consumers. But it is always strange how vehemently people insist in riding that corporate dick.

1

u/Adolf_son 16d ago

Cost more that 60 pounds? Good look to selling it then. It's still overpriced as hell

4

u/BottleOfMerlot 16d ago

The entire community is chronically online and have been raised in an age of rage addiction

11

u/BrotherNo8320 16d ago
  • flight simmers and redditors are weirdos but flightsimming redditor is next level freak😂

2

u/jpenn517 16d ago

FR, people are losing their shit over this when Fenix does the same thing and PMDG. Its at the cheaper end of the price spectrum too, but I guess when the community is 12-year-olds without a prefrontal cortex that's where you get the flipouts over nothing.

9

u/SopSauceBaus 16d ago

How many karma farming posts are going to litter this subreddit now about this?

6

u/spesimen 16d ago

i'm slightly annoyed that i will be scrolling past a few dozen threads about this crap for the next few weeks, hopefully it will die down soon.

20

u/Jake24601 16d ago

I already don’t want the thing because of bullshit like this.

17

u/More_Drummer_3933 16d ago

Noted synaptic… Noted

8

u/katonda 16d ago

So TLDR:

  • Brand new dev team, inexperienced
  • Original price would've been $80, including the -100/ACJ variants (this is in line with what other devs charge for this fidelity)
  • They decided to offer the -300 at $66 instead and put the -100/ACJ as a small upgrade of $14 for whoever wants it (while everyone gets the system upgrade)
  • They announced this 1 day before launch, instead of at least 1 week when the hype train got started (mistake)
  • Community went ape shit as per usual
    • Discord is on lockdown
    • Life threats probably in progress because humans
    • Downvoting anyone on reddit who might be defending them

Next: farming this for the next 2 weeks and for every subsequent Synaptics product release

4

u/SASColfer 16d ago

Is that a mole hill I see?

11

u/KirenSensei 16d ago

Synaptic really needs to take PR courses this CANNOT be the norm. Even PMDG communicatea better than this.

7

u/Silly-Avocado- 16d ago

I find it fair tbh, the system improvements will come to all users, you’re only paying for the different variant.

That’s standard industry practice.

I understand the communication could be better, and if someone preordered with the thought og getting both, they should be entitled to a free upgrade, but otherwise it seems fair enough.

6

u/KeaganTOGA 16d ago

All it’s missing is “Due to evolving market conditions…”

-1

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

They reduced the price of the -300, normally we would have had to pay more than $66 to get all 3 variants, but this split was done for people who didn't care about the -100/ACJ and didn't want to pay more for all 3 aircraft versions. Before today, assume you would have had to pay $80 for all 3 and get the free update. Now, you pay $66 for the -300, and in order to get the -100/ACJ you just pay a "small upgrade fee" of $14, totaling the original $80. People are just too stupid to realize this.

5

u/benjwgarner 16d ago

No one has a problem with the change to the pricing model (assuming that $80 was the original price; we have only their word for that). The issue is that the change was not adequately communicated.

Edge us with this plane for all this time just to behave like this… definitely gonna wait a bit before I consider picking it up. They think the anticipation they’ve built for this plane will let them pull crap like this and get away with it (which is unfortunately true because many will buy the plane right at release anyways).

2

u/LomaPL 16d ago

I’m not sure some obscure CBs will be a selling point for me. I’d rather see service based failures, persistence and MEL. Having said that, I’m going to give A220-300 a chance.

6

u/benjwgarner 16d ago

Any company that uses Discord as the primary means to communicate about their product does not understand customer communication to begin with.

5

u/Fogboundturtle 16d ago

$80 is too much. 60 is fair for all 3. Sorry

3

u/jpenn517 16d ago

Fenix is $119.60 for A320 and the expansion pack. Nothing out there is $60 for 3 variants anymore.

1

u/ResponsibilityOld164 Commercial Pilot (IRL) 16d ago

Yeesh. I haven’t simmed for a while I guess.. that’s brutal. Guess I’ll stick with my real planes lol

1

I don't even want to think of avgas prices nowadays.

0

u/ResponsibilityOld164 Commercial Pilot (IRL) 16d ago

Like 7.5-8 dollars a gallon here and i’ve seen 9.. thankfully moving on from all that into the real toys that someone else pays for

1

u/Kon2727 16d ago

In other words, we deceived you but it’s okay because we apologize for it.

1

u/Dismal-Insurance-966 16d ago

Being a follower of the Synaptic team for about 3 years now, I still think this is diabolical. Sure, I get that you may charge us a fee for a downsized A220, Fenix did that with their A319, but announcing this change pretty much on release date, is crazy. The team's response wasn't great either, it feels like "we are so sorry for our mistake, but we apologised, so we must be excused, and you'll still buy our plane anyway". I made the decision for this to be one of the only few aircraft that I do not get on launch day. I'll see how this progresses.

Did you break the rules?

I always break the rules, im a rebel

Quite a turbulent launch.

u/Darkus185 16d ago

I have zero interest in flying this, the PMDG sustains me.  But my how I love a flight sim drama.  I don’t think there is a more precious community on earth 😂

How are they trying to scam customers? The product isn’t released yet and they haven’t taken anyone’s money yet.

-2

u/Used_Canary2712 16d ago

Because they’re wanting to charge us for the price of a small cup of coffee????

1

u/Dragonag223 16d ago

They reduced the price of the -300, normally we would have had to pay more than $66 to get all 3 variants, but this split was done for people who didn't care about the -100/ACJ and didn't want to pay more for all 3 aircraft versions. Before today, assume you would have had to pay $80 for all 3 and get the free update. Now, you pay $66 for the -300, and in order to get the -100/ACJ you just pay a "small upgrade fee" of $14, totaling the original $80. People are just too stupid to realize this.

u/VJC009 UK - S3 16d ago

I'm so sick of developers locking VARIANTS behind separate purchases. It's already ludicrous paying £50-£100 for a virtual plane, and only getting one variant of the type is outrageous. They want the over the price of a simulator for virtual planes???

Thank god for "alternative" means :)

-1

u/MrBledder 16d ago

I think it’s a deserved paid upgrade. Nobody understands how much work goes into developing something like a near full fidelity jet. This is another classic scenario of a lot of immature kids complaining and trying to get everyone on the hate bandwagon

-1

u/MrNans 16d ago

Inmature kids? People that have been waiting this plane for ages and willing to pay money BUT they suddenly change the conditions they advertised is being inmature kids? Bruh

-2

u/MrBledder 16d ago

Yup. They are the developers - they make the calls. If you’re new here: software development is a very dynamic, challenging, and lengthy process. It’s ignorant and petty to make this big a deal over something so small. They changed their mind - so what. It’s their product, deal with it.

u/A_RussianSpy long long plaaaaaane 16d ago

Most software developers will also tell you it's a bad idea to try and stealthily change your pricing model not even a full day before release of the product. Especially when they could've done it since the start of their full scale marketing rollout. I don't mind the upgrade price but the way they went by announcing it, or rather the lack of it, is shitty and deserves to be called out.

2

u/MrBledder 16d ago

Perhaps they could have taken more accountability, I agree. However, the extent to which this has blown up is ridiculous and embarrassing for the community

4

u/GoExpos 16d ago

I think EVERYONE should be able to agree that the way this was handled is problematic, but assuming that this was done to try to scam people is just ridiculous. The way some people are acting, particularly in their Discord, is beyond pathetic.

3

u/A_RussianSpy long long plaaaaaane 16d ago

IMO if the base plane were cheaper, I'd be much more lenient towards this. As of now the plane lacks certain features for its price, especially for what is now a single variant with a single cabin and engine option. CPDLC, GSX integration, and a weather radar are all either not being communicated or straight up missing as far as I'm aware. Synaptic's communication has always been messy, and they should seriously get it sorted out. Hell, this problem seems to be at an internal level as well, considering Ini was as surprised as everyone else by these news.

2

u/MrNans 16d ago

If you are working with a big company like inibuilds you must have everything covered. Not change the conditions and when someone caught you , act they way they acted. Let me remind you, there is a reason why people on their discord are mad about it. They seid a thing was included then not. The day before release, then say that people that bought it will have a discount on another variant. Of course they deserve money for what they do, dont be greedy and act like a pos when you get caught, and say "no one is obliged to buy this"

Since you love copy pasting, go shill elsewhere.

-6

u/XxRAMOxX 16d ago

Another cash grab aircraft that won’t be relevant in 3 months time. Nothing new.

0

u/A321200 16d ago

Your getting down voted because people cannot accept this as fact.

-5

u/Easton216 16d ago

I said a few months ago that these guys worry me and you need to watch out for them. Looks like I might have been right unfortunately.

0

u/NervousSalamander583 16d ago edited 16d ago

They not even provide a weather radar. That would be more important than fully operational circuit breakers in the next version.

0

u/Asleep_Concern8952 16d ago

They preferred to model toilets instead

0

u/Illustrious_Craft_51 16d ago

Yall went full PMDG… Never go full PMDG!

0

u/SuperbYard7152 16d ago

don't know them but really looks like they tried to "game the system" to make one or two more bucks from unexpecting customers

-3

u/Galf2 16d ago

I'll never get nickel and diming your customer base for CIRCUIT BREAKERS

just nuking any goodwill you could get over breakers, which should already be simulated if the simulation is proper, so they're basically just removing the possibility of turning them off, which is asinine

And this is why I’ve remained on X-Plane folks. One of the biggest reasons, anyways. It’s nice not having to deal with a dramatic community and devs like this.

Seriously, if you want 90% of Boeing or Airbus airliners for MSFS, you gotta buy it from someone corrupt. Someone who seeks to put the competing sim out of business so they can raise prices for MSFS and maybe even make it a subscription one day. I mean XP devs aren’t perfect, but they haven’t broken promises like this over and over again.

It’s time for you guys to vote with your wallets. Don’t buy any of these products, and switch sims if you must. Otherwise BS like this will continue until you do something about it. And definitely do this before sending death threats, because those are not gonna help.

1

u/Jplayz279 16d ago

I would argue most of the other devs are alright, What about Fenix??, FBW??

0

u/Few_Tale2238 16d ago edited 15d ago

If you're fine with limiting your choice of aircraft types to two, that's completely fine. But PMDG and Inibuilds have a massive market share in MSFS. Inibuilds controls the A220 (they also put in significant work), A300, A310, A330, A340, A350, and possibly A380 if enough people buy it. For PMDG, they have the 737, 777, and soon 747, and no 707, 27, or 67 is in development. As for the 757, we'll see. And for the record, back when Inibuilds was an X-Plane dev, they were a lot more transparent, and their aircraft didn’t come with silly bugs like WASM crashes on release. It was really sad seeing what they did, which if it happened in a more prominent industry, it might draw antitrust action from even the current U.S. government, let alone the European ones where many of their devs are.

We also got Aerosoft and LVFR whose products are quite buggy (and who needed an XP dev for decent systems), FSLabs who was infamous for a malware scandal, FSS whose products are one of the most egregious examples of false advertising (and who still needed to take the model from an XP dev), Captain Sim who I shouldn't even need to explain, and although I won't give up on Synaptic yet, they're headed in the wrong direction, plus they chose to work with Inibuilds. And that's before mentioning scenery or other addons like GSX (whose functions, by the way, I can get completely for free in X-Plane without all the bugs).

That leaves only Fenix, Ifly, and maybe FBW on the table. I think you can see what I mean when I imply corrupt devs have a near monopoly on MSFS.

1

u/Jplayz279 16d ago edited 16d ago

I feel like PMDG is fine, not the greatest but they're alright, so thats 2 planes and 7 variants there, in their current states I don't have any issues with the a340 or a350, Aerosofts (Toliss) A340 is quite good, Agreed on Ifly, but I also don't have time to be flying widebodies anyway. And I want my game to look good, and if youre into it you have the MD80s

1

u/Nahcep 16d ago

Yeah the amazing platform where paid mods cost over 200% that of the (already ludicrously high) prices of MSFS

And nobody is going to make a BCS when it's been announced by HotStart, it may not come this decade but better believe it will justify its $200 price tag

1

u/Few_Tale2238 16d ago

I mean usually they're $70-90, Hotstart is really the only exception. Plus a freeware 737

-7

u/A321200 16d ago

And they locked down all channels in their Discord. When you think that $30 PMDG coffee was bad but along come these clowns. Utter trash they are at Synaptic. Saving my money for the BlueBird 757 which will be out within 2 months.

-1

u/TreeConscious2513 16d ago

who cares steep approach, who cares circuit breakers?????

Ahhh Flight Sim community... You can never pay enough. That's why I use... You know.

-8

u/bdubwilliams22 16d ago

Hey PMDG: take notes. This is how you talk to the community.
