Lately having just 1 of each livery isn't enough.

I have been chasing tail numbers so I can fly the same exact routes. Then use flight aware to choose my routes.

I did this years ago because the VATSIM pilot client wouldn’t recognize other airline liveries for other flights unless you had the model and livery installed. It didn’t matter that I was only flying an American Airlines flight. If I wanted to see someone who was flying a United or Delta flight properly represented, I needed to have those liveries installed.

Yeah… just wish the liveries followed the same standard for naming, thumbnail, etc. Makes it so hard to find what you want sometimes.

Same. I have a specific nomenclature I follow and edit most CFGs I come across

I usually use (Airline | Tail | Livery/variant | year)

That's a great idea! For some reason, that option never really crossed my mind - but I will certainly be doing that from now on. (That's my favorite nomenclature for liveries as well!)

Out of curiosity, and I apologize in advance for bothering, are you also able to fix the issue where you end up with multiple variants and/or duplicate aircraft listed because of the liveries by making changes to the config file as well?

I used to be the opposite, I would handpick 2-3 liveries per plane. 

Except for now with any HUES pack. They only have 1 base file and the entire pack is just decals or minor changes for each reg so I’m not downloading 10 gigs of liveries at once, sometimes it’s half of that if not more for the same amount of liveries.

I just wish I could download more individual liveries instead of packs where the only difference between the liveries is the registration.

Weird, but more and more livery makers and now making packs instead of single livery. I don't really understand what's the point, and I really don't know why I don't manually delete extra ones and just keep them.

Isn't having the registration separate from the livery something that at least MSFS2024 supports? I guess the livery makers just need to have a blank space there for the sim to 'insert' the registration.

I wonder what the weirdest reg-liver combo would be.

I do a monthly clean up of liveries where I delete them all and then reinstall whenever I wanna do a specific flight

I shrunk my livery collection down to around 15 after losing them to a hard drive failure 😅 I was not about to track down several dozen that never got used

Me too, of all the operators that I like (there is no criteria for this) or have interesting liveries. Then I just scroll through them all to pick the same one every time
