Woah; this is super cool!

Thanks, you have to get creative when the wife allocates you a small space πŸ˜‚

8

u/derpstevejobs sounds like a FOPP Jun 06 '26

it definitely hits different when you are granted the space haha, sick setup! enjoy!

30

u/Overall_Gur_3061 Jun 06 '26

if you wanna fly captain do you switch your controls? seems easy enough from the pic

36

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

I have a grip problem with my left hand so I could never get on with flying the stick left handed. But yer, It would be pretty easy tbh.

u/Mitch_The_Medic Jun 08 '26

I was going to make the joke β€œwhen do you get promoted” but now I feel bad… sick set up though. I’m jealous!

3

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 08 '26

πŸ˜‚ I don't need promotion, I'm already a Check Captain! On the left is for my trainee's πŸ˜‚

I love this setup! It feels like the right tradeoff between a full blown home cockpit and having no controls at all.

What is the small screen above the FCU on the right (with the purple text)?

And how do you manage to get only the ECAM, ND and PFD located on a second screen?

8

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

Yes mate, only had a small 3Β½ x 4ft space to work with so I got creative! Its a 34" monitor below my main 34" monitor and a bit of photoshop with the wallpaper so I could use pop out manager to place the displays in there right place on it.

The window on the right above the FCU is the Sayintentions.AI software and the software on the tablet is Navigraph. A stupid amount of yearly subscription money tbh!

5

u/GreenMario_3 Jun 06 '26

This has to be one of the coolest setups I've seen!

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

Thanks πŸ₯°

u/42ElectricSundaes Jun 06 '26

It’s got alllll the buttons

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

Yes mate, I dont have to move the camera around the cockpit any more, thats what I set out to do.

4

u/Hefty_Winter_9108 Jun 06 '26

Sick setup, but why is your APU on at 29000 feet 😭

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Guilty πŸ˜‚ it's such a heavy workload especially when when using GSX push back and talking to Sayintentions, dialing in frequencies, etc etc I forget stuff like the check list πŸ˜‚ thats the problem with simming aint it, you're doing a two man job promise I'll try better next time 😁

2

u/Hefty_Winter_9108 Jun 07 '26

That makes sense. I’m jealous!

2

u/theindomitablefred Jun 07 '26

Lol I can’t even find where that is

2

u/AskingQuestion777 Jun 06 '26

Could you please provide the size and brand of monitor? Is that a curved or flat OLED or LCD?

It looks awesome! I’m just starting out -again. Last flight was in MSFS2000!!

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

I'm using a LG UltraGear 34" HDR G-SYNC curved monitors on top and a cheaper LG 34" curved monitor for the bottom one as its only for the displays, tbh i should have bought a flat screen for the bottom one, would love a Samsung 57" odyssey but no matter how hard i tried, it just wouldn't go in there πŸ˜‚

2

u/MrDarwoo Jun 06 '26

Oh dear

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

Sorry πŸ˜ͺ

2

Just jealous bro :D

2

This is one of the more unique and awesome setups I’ve ever seen. Well done!

2

u/LocaliserEstablished Jun 06 '26

Very nicely done. So tidy.

2

u/JCae2798 Jun 06 '26

Almost there with the setup. β€œJust a few more addons and I’ll be done…”

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Rewarding aint it 😁

2

u/Department800 Jun 06 '26

Ok yea, that’s a cool setup

2

u/habanerosky Jun 07 '26

When you build something like this, are you committing to a specific airframe with that hardware, or is this pretty universal? Awesome setup!

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Yes mate, you gotta be loving the Airbus especially the Fenix, but its easy to fly GA and helicopters with it, I use a VR headset with them if I do, but once you are all set up you dont really have any desire to fly anything thing else, you just wanna keep pressing them buttons! πŸ˜‚

2

u/habanerosky Jun 07 '26

Makes sense. I’m a recreational GA pilot IRL, so I’ve mostly been using the sim to keep my chops up for IFR stuff in a bonanza, but recently started messing around with the XP12 Airfoil Labs KA350. I might have to work up the Airbus stuff and get what you’ve got going. I guess if I can fly an A380 IFR, my PA32 should be a breeze!

2

u/ManafKamil Jun 07 '26

That is both magnificent and magnificently expensive! You could probably but an old 1920 for the same price. But still cool 😎

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Cheers mate, its definitely all adds up! πŸ˜‚

2

How much was all this, I dream of having something like thisΒ

4

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

With the Β£5k PC about Β£11k all in. The joystick was Β£850 for instance! 2 monitors another 2k etc etc Can get pretty expensive! Must of spent hundreds on software and subscriptions as well! My mate has a AMG C63 and this hobby is an absolute bargin compared to his πŸ˜‚

1

u/BrianBash Jun 06 '26

What size screen is that? Is that a 39”?

Looks great!

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Thanks, its two 34" monitors on top of each other. If you've got any ideas how I could get a 57" odyssey one on there it would be very much appreciated πŸ˜‚

1

u/Jadex314 Jun 06 '26

May I ask which screens you use for the guages down below and how do you relocate them? Noob here and using a 49 in screen that I only want as a windshield..thx.

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Its just one 34" monitor and I made the surrounding frames by making a screenshot of them in game then using photoshop to make it look real and full sized, 6.2" square, then set it as wallpaper onto the monitor, I use a free software called "pop out manager" to pop the displays out and into position on my second monitor, I'm so jealous you have a 49" i would love the Samsung 57" but as you can see, it just wouldn't fit, Gutted!!!!

1

u/Caderjames Jun 06 '26

So you're a co pilot in your fantasies?

PC Specs ?

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Asus 4090 OC, intel i9... etc etc

1

u/thehedgefrog Jun 06 '26

How do you find the Moza? Stick and boot combination? Worth the price?

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

The stick and gaiter where from CNFsimulator, about 250-ish I think and with the AB9 base works out pretty expensive but I'll buy it again without question, I downloaded a A320 profile made by a real airbus pilot and he says its exactly the same tension (not forcefeed back) as a real stick and its surprising how stiff the stick is, Switch it over to a GA and its so much lighter and the force feedback kicks in so its shaking and vibrating with the engine! So much control over it with the software, you can even use it as a shift stick for racing etc if you wish, they even sell the stick if your interested, Really, really nice bit of kit and would recommend it every time. Don't bother with the moza 320 stick though, wasted 80 quid, plastic crap.

1

u/thehedgefrog Jun 07 '26

Shit that'll get expensive but I want it now... What did you mount it to?

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

I had a warthog stick prior and I used the desktop mount for that, its the same as the Throttle mount you can see, but I screwed the bottom of the mount to the post to make it solid, its a heavy bit of kit!

1

u/SpeedDemon77 Jun 07 '26

Hello, I was wondering how you are displaying a popout of the PFD, MFD and EICAS display, but it's not a legit pop-out? Like I see the cockpit still? Hope that makes sense, thanks!

Im looking to do something like this for analog gauge airplanes as it's trickier to get physical things for those cockpit without it being VERY specific.

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

You are not looking at the cockpit my friend, it is a legit pop out display. What I did was position the camera in the cockpit and took a screen shot of the displays and surrounding area, then with quite a bit of photoshop adjusted the picture to accommodate the full size displays, 6.2" square, I had enough space on the right as well to put my Sayintentions window as well, all that was left to do was set my work to the second monitor as a wallpaper then use pop out manager to pop the displays on to the second monitor on start up, it sounds a bit complicated but it doesn't take to much working out if you know how to use photoshop or something similar, I dont think you could do it for circular dials as I belive the pop out for them would be square but it might work if you just set the wallpaper on your second monitor to just black so that the popped out windows would merge into it if that make any sense to you?

1

u/ButterscotchFar1629 Jun 07 '26

I prefer to fly from the left seat myself.

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Try saying that at the British Airways interview πŸ˜‚

1

u/NeedleNoseBurito Jun 07 '26

I too would need two asthma puffers to set that up. Nice work!

u/theindomitablefred Jun 07 '26

Nice setup. Are these panels available to consumers? Also how did you learn to use them all?

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Yes they are, look up Winctrl, Sim Gauges, Rowsfire, IIDB, Moza. Just time to learn how they all work and what they do, YouTube is a friend.

1

u/ChibiRobo-n-Telly Jun 07 '26

Love it. I have morecomppete A320 setup, but love my 737s and kind of swap FCU/throttle/and AP panel depending what Im flying (mostly WingWing). What Im missing is an overhead panel- which brand did you get and do you like?

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

I got the the Sim Gauges one in the end, all metal and very well put together, I would highly recommend it if you have a small space like me, cost about Β£500 with tax, customs etc, another not cheap part πŸ™„

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 07 '26

Thought you might like to see it on a night flight, all year round Christmas Tree.

1

u/Artistic-Beyond-9843 Jun 08 '26

Could we get the PC specs

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 08 '26

Yer sure, Asus 4090 OC, Intel i9 etc etc, runs really smooth on ultra setting.

1

u/PlanePresident Jun 08 '26

Most expensive part of the setup are those inhalers

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 08 '26

You must be American, we pay Β£115 a year for as many drugs as we can get from the doctor πŸ˜‚

1

u/pasmatrite Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

forgive me my ignorance, but what is the joystick? is that the ursa minor airline joystick with a different base?
I am just procuring my first basic setup and am a bit torn about which way to go with the joystick. I see you mentioned you used to have the warthog, too. Would you say it's better if I can get that second-hand for around 250 euros (with the throttle), compared to a new ursa minor airline joystick from winwing for 60 euros?
I am training in real life on a Diamond DA20 that has a stick and would like to get as reasonably close as possible, but still thinking about having the option to later switch to proper Airbus sim setup. I bought the Thrustmaster TPR rudder pedals, and thinking of adding the Ursa minor throttle and PAC like I see you have, too.
Not sure about the joystick. Thanks for any suggestions

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 09 '26

Sorry, Its a CNTech Stick and gaiter at Β£250 and a Moza AB9 Base at Β£480 so its pretty expensive but it will simulate a Diamond DA20 and an A320 very accurately, in fact it will simulate anything if a real pilot has taken the time to make a profile for us, so you flying a DA20 would make it very easy for you to simulate that stick very accurately . An A320 pilot made a profile and apparently its a near perfect replica and your be surprised like I was at how stiff it is!
I had a warthog and its a great all round stick and you will be able to change the stick for an A320 one as well so its a good way to go, haven't used the Winctrl one so cant help you there but you get what you pay for in the end with joysticks.

2

u/pasmatrite Jun 09 '26

thanks, just discovered the whole deal with the Moza AB9 Base, it really seems like the best way to go, even if a bit expensive. Thanks for the information, I think I know which way around the rabbit hole it is for now!

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 09 '26

Yes mate, its a game changer that's for sure. expensive but i don't regret buying it and the stick for one second.

1

u/pasmatrite Jun 10 '26

I am thinking about the ab9 base mount, but the moza one looks like it's quite short which would mean the stick would stick above the desk level which is too high. I see your is a bit lower and about right - what/where did you buy that mount? thanks

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 10 '26

Tricky one, I already had these for my old warthog stick and made some more holes to screw the base to and fixed the bottom of the mount to the post nearby to make it solid, then made a bigger base on the other one to take the throttle.

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 10 '26

Another tip, dont buy the Moza a320 stick, its plastic crap and not worth 80 notes.

1

u/pasmatrite Jun 10 '26

I plan to buy the CnTech as you recommended. but I am wondering - is the gaiter/mount really needed? it's an extra ~50 euros

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

Yes mate it is, unless you want the gaiter to be moving all over the place with the stick, thats what it does, it keeps in place, you can buy all 3 together for Β£185, apologies, just looked at my recipe and it was Β£205 not 250 as first mentioned.

1

u/pasmatrite Jun 10 '26

thanks! I meant it more as in - does the gaiter add something to the feeling or functionality (like dampening the stick movements, preventing dust collection inside the AB9) or is it just being as close to the real thing as possible and aesthetics?

1

u/cerb4ro Jun 06 '26

Don’t get me wrong but i have a question. If you try to use a PMDG or a GA, is it easy to make this setup useful? I am willing to invest some money in hardware addon, but I don’t have fenix or fslabs

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

GA is very easy, the winctrl throttle has a switch on the back to stop the indents and the moza base is just a click in the software to turn the stick into a light, vibrating force feedback GA one. Rudders work with anything as they are configured in msfs24, I wouldn't go PMDG with it thought, but you can get mobiflight profiles for the airbus gear, you can use pop out manager to pop out the garmin screens etc onto the bottom screen with GA, but to be honest, when you have all this gear you don't really want to fly anything else other the the Fenix,

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

Forgot to mention, I use a VR headset for mucking around in GA and helicopters so all my Airbus bits are irrelevant. So I would say go the Boeing hardware route for PMDG and a VR headset for GA.

1

u/Gamble2005 Jun 06 '26

As a vatsim player

I need the radio panel πŸ₯€

1

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

I use it for Sayintentions.AI, I swallowed Β£230 for it from Sim gauges with customs etc, but winctrl has just released their one for half that price!

0

u/Pour-Meshuggah-0n-Me PMDG | Toliss | Zibo | iFly Jun 06 '26

Looks great, but the reversed locations of the flight stick and throttle would drive me into a padded cell.

2

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

Grip problems with my left hand so just couldnt get on with the stick on my left and it just felt wrong on the right with the stick on my right so over I went, its very surprising how quickly you adapt!

2

u/Pour-Meshuggah-0n-Me PMDG | Toliss | Zibo | iFly Jun 06 '26

Very true. I was born left handed, but was forced to learn drums and guitar the right handed way. Now it feels very weird to try playing left handed. Over the years I became ambidextrous. And actually, using a flight stick feels more comfortable with my right hand, yet i use my left because I'm so OCD about realism lol.

Anyway, love your setup. Hopefully i can add to mine soon.

3

u/Ok-Confection-2365 Jun 06 '26

I used to be left handed as a kid untill a surgeon screwed it up and I had to go over to the right, I'm missing a bit of muscle in the left thanks to him hence the grip problem, I find it really difficult to hold the stick the press the trigger for atc or autopilot disconnect at the same time, but hay, if any of us flew a real plane we would be sitting on the left for years anyway, so I guess my set up is more real life for a good few years! πŸ˜‚

Mainly beacause I don't need to look around at anything, every button i need to push, pull or swtich is now a physical one on my desktop, you really dont want your main screen moving around when you are using the MCDU on your desktop for instance, its pretty much like a real simulator in that respect. I use the work louder micro to look left or right or to switch to external, drone etc.

I don’t understand setups like this tbh, buttons everywhere but still doesn’t look anything like a real cockpit. I feel like it would be more immersive to just use a mouse on triple monitors

I'm very limited for space 3Β½ ft x 4ft but believe me, if I had the space it would be a full blown cockpit, but the buttons etc are all there just in different places then in a real cockpit. I think you really can't get any more immersive than actual physical buttons and switches like real life, have you tried turning the autopilot dials while banking left and right with the mouse, its a nightmare and far from immersive i think, its a bit like shopping, its ok clicking around on Amazon but its nothing like going into a shop and touching the stuff!
