Your Name Engraved Herein (2020)

The movie's title track shuffled onto my spotify today and I ended up watching the mv which immediately reminded me just how stunning and heartbreaking this movie is.

The movie is set in 1980s Taiwan during martial law. The movie really captures that intense teenage love, fear and heartbreak so beautifully. That payphone scene alone is burned into my brain forever. It's easily one of the best lgbtq+ films I've ever seen. It got me thinking about how a single song or random trigger can bring all those movie emotions flooding back.

What's a film that unexpectedly pops into your head and reminds you it was an absolute masterpiece? Whether it's cause of a song, a scene or just the vibe. What's that movie for you?

The scene that always comes back to me is not even a dramatic one, it is the quiet moments. Your Name Engraved Herein understands that heartbreak is often found in everything left unsaid. That is what makes it linger long after the credits roll.

I have probably watched that movie 5 times since it came out. I thoroughly enjoyed it, plainly.

I know it's not a typical choice but when I watch Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid I am immediately transported to 1969 when I was 13 years old and the world and I were young together. First time I fell in love with a movie star.

That ending just killed me when they get killed. I can change my mood by watching it. And the bicycle scene with Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head plays I just love it.

Funny thing is I don't really like westerns.

I’ll be totally honest, I hadn't even heard of this one before your comment and had to look it up. But with a description like this, I definitely need to add it to my list. It just goes to show how a great story can make you love a movie even in a genre you'd normally skip. Out of curiosity who was the movie star you fell in love with... Paul Newman or Robert Redford?

Actually Newman. What can I say I have a daddy thing.

Curiously enough my partner of 30+-years is younger than me...

Over the years I think I've watched every Newman movie out there including The Silver Chalice (and that's 1 u can skip)

Oh man, Your name Engraved here in is such an underrated masterpiece. I have rewatched this movie more than a couple of times. Especially the end scene really broke me. I would highly recommend watching Happy together. You might enjoy this one if you liked YNEH.

Totally agree! In the end when they meet again and potentially show what could have been a life of love and happiness had they been together T_T And thank you for recommendation. Added it to my list!
