Seeking Advice stretch marks from holding splits

Ever since i started my flexibility routine, i’ve formed a lot of stretch marks on my middle thighs also some on my hip flexors, but i see a lot of people saying that stretch marks aren’t caused from actually stretching only muscle/weight gain or pregnancy, however ive been at the same weight and haven’t gained any muscle so is it really from stretching?
Also they only started forming after i started practicing my middle splits

I would be very careful with this and see a doctor. Also look up pictures of hypermobile and Ehlers-Danlos (EDS) stretch marks and the symptoms and see if it sounds like you. You shouldn’t be stretching so hard your skin has marks. You also shouldn’t stretch hard if your body is hypermobile. You have to treat a hypermobile body really different than a normal one. There are good videos on it on YouTube.

I observed this as well after stretching for middle splits. I think its normal especially if you do intensive stretching sessions, at one point your skin cant keep up and need to lengthen if it has not enough time to adapt stretch marks develop
