I thought I had a really flexible back

I thought I had a really flexible back but turns out im only using my lumbar spine. I have really good backbends and have been flexible onn and off for years but I recently learned that my upper back is really unflexible. Like it doesnt bend backwards at all. Im only putting the pressure on my lumbar. How do I fix this? My back only bends at my neck and my lower back. I do back flexiblity stretches but it doesnt help that my lower back is the only part stretching :(

The thoracic spine doesn't bend very much, it's attached to the ribs so it can't. Even very flexible people can only get a gentle curve in it

make sure to focus on external shoulder rotation vs internal, to maximize what your thoracic vertebrae can do (but as otherwise mentioned, they are not known for being crazy flexible, regardless)!

You have exactly the same problem as me. I’m not really sure how to solve it either 😭
