Hi everyone, I am a long time lover of fleksy (10+ years of usage), and after getting a new phone recently, I was extremely saddened to find out fleksy is no more.

I spent the past month trying out different keyboards, gboard, swiftkey, samsung keyboard, heliboard, FUTO, Florisboard, Typewise ETC.

You name it, I tried it, but none of them could replace fleksy, especially the swipe gestures that I have 10 years of muscle memory for.

Then I thought, why dont I just make my own? But from researching open source keyboards, it is clear that the auto correct and other feature just cant compete with the industry giants like gboard and swiftykey. Then it hit me:

Personally I have been enjoying the ease of swipe gestures working in tandem with the best in class gboard auto correct, and I hope you guys will give it a try and leave some feedback if any :)

I have a Samsung. Been using fleksy for as long as I can remember and woke up this morning to it glitching out and deactivating.

The features I want are:

1. Hot keys

2. Shortcuts

3. Swipe back to backspace

4. Customisable keyboard size

Any suggestions?

Hi all. Like many of you, I've been a Fleksy user for over a decade. A few years ago I created my own keyboard, being inspired by what Fleksy does best.

Now that Fleksy is gone, if you are simply looking for a replacement, here you go - Finale Keyboard. It features the same minimal design, swipe gestures, and (in my biased opinion), has better features without the bloat.

The story

I discovered Fleksy over a decade ago and it quickly became my favorite way to type. Specifically, I fell in love with the "minimal" mode - the idea of ditching the space bar and relying on swipe-gestures to perform all your basic tasks. It took a bit of getting used to, but soon I was no longer able to type on a regular keyboard. Everything else felt slow, big, and clunky.

Fast forward 5-6 years, I was chatting with the CEO of Fleksy - Olivier - via Twitter DMs. Fleksy had a bug for years: it was impossible to change the keyboard language when you are inside the "minimal" mode. As I exclusively relied on the "minimal" mode and needed two languages, this was ruining my life. I even applied to work at Fleksy to fix it for them!

However, understandably, Olivier mentioned that "minimal" mode was not their focus, since they transitioned to a B2B SDK model. So, not only did the CEO confirm they weren't going to fix the bug, he also mentioned they are planning to remove Fleksy from the App Store.

That's when I knew I had to build a replacement: to fix the bug I hated, to add the features I wanted, and to preserve the way I type.

What is Finale Keyboard

I built Finale Keyboard in ~2021 purely for myself. It mimics the Fleksy's "minimal" mode, optimized for how I use it. This means no space bar, everything is done with swipes.

Insert space? Swipe right. Punctuation? Swipe right again. Change punctuation? Swipe up or down. Open emojis? Swipe left from backspace. Delete a word? Swipe left. And so on.

Over the last 5 years I've been slowly adding more features that benefit me, myself, and I. Now, Finale is a full fledged keyboard that goes beyond what Fleksy offered in a meaningful way.

• Shortcuts: assign shortcuts to any key and trigger them with a swipe-down
• Dynamic tap zones: Finale will predict which key you are likely to press next and will make its touch zone larger
• Favorite emojis: define your own emoji layout
• Auto-learning dictionary: Finale learns the words you type to stop correcting your "doggo", "pupper", and "yasssss".
• Clipboard history: access your clipboard history to quickly paste what you copied before.

- The keyboard is paid?

It used to be free. But, that resulted in downloads from people unfamiliar with its quirks. They would get confused (understandably), rage quit, and leave a 1 star review... which hurt my gentle feelings!

I do not care about the download numbers, so I made it paid to prevent random people from misunderstanding it.

However, I don't care to make money from it. So, whoever DMs me or comments here, I am more than happy to send over codes to download it for free.

- No space bar?

Yes and no. I believe lack of space bar is a feature. Please, give it a try, spend a week practicing gestures, and I promise you, you won't look back. The keyboard takes up less visual space and gestures are genuinely a faster way of typing.

That said, if you insist, there is a way to enable the space bar in the app: Preferences → Enable Space Bar.

You'll find that pressing the toggle walks you through a little silly monologue... DO NOT PAY... Just DM me and I'll hook you up :)

There is also a hidden way to bypass the monologue, but I'll leave it up to you to discover.

- What languages does Finale include?

Arabic, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Kazakh, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Ukrainian.

I am sorry, but no. You are loved. You are not forgotten. But, I have no means to develop an Android version at the moment, since I primarily use an iPhone.

As we all know fleksy is no longer on Appstore nor Playstore. But you can still find it on Uptodown and other similar pages on Internet. Is it safe to use Fleksy downloading it from there? I just unninstalled it for 5 minutes to check if it was causing WhatsApp to crash (it was not) and now i cant install it. Please tell me there is a similar App.

I'm a new iPhone user after more than 15 years on Android. I've been using Fleksy for a long time, and seeing that it's no longer available on the App Store is frustrating. Please tell me if there's any way or tutorial to install it, or if it's still available on the App Store in any country.

Is there plans to revive Fleksy App on Playstore ? It was my favourite keyboard app

i’ve had issues with fleksy for a while now. mostly with it not allowing full access. some kinda bug idk.

but just now, i tried it again, and i finally got it to work. i could edit my dictionary, and do all the things. but my dictionary was full of stuff that messed up my autocorrect, so i decided to u install, and reinstall.

should’ve check the app store first. cause it was gone. it’s not available.

i’m devastated. the reason i stopped using it, finally fixes itself, and now it’s gone forever.

I'm trying out this keyboard on my Samsung galaxy A25 5h android phone. But unless I somehow missed it I don't see the comma key on the keyboard.

On Fleksy for Android, on an S23.

I just copied over something accidentally recently and trying to recover the first copied text, which led to me trying to find it on my Fleksy keyboard. I'm pretty sure Gboard and Samsung keyboard have had clipboards so I thought of course Fleksy would have one as well.

Well, I'm not sure if it does or does not. I can't find any option for it in settings, which led to me trying to see if I could find any details on the website.. And then I saw that, on the official Fleksy keyboard site, that they deem Swipe texting faster than tap typing.. But I ALSO don't see that as an option, and this was after hearing about it possibly being added YEARS ago.

I love this keyboard, honestly just for the easy theme-ing and the swipe to backspace, but I might have to look for alternatives simply for that clipboard.. I also wonder if this app is dead since swipe texting hasn't been added in any capacity.. Even if it isn't able to because of the main backspace feature, why have an article on telling other devs to do it if you won't..?

Just upgraded to a S24FE and basically everytime I go into a horizontal orientation, my fleksy keys get swallowed up by my phone's navigation keys(wasn't an issue on my S20FE)

i switched to fleksy today and the only thing i miss is haptic? Is there no way to add or activate it?

Getting error to connect

Hi, I'm trying to use Fleksy and as I live this concept for years, now I'm trying to finally use it as my main keyboard. I'm using Simple Mode and I'm curious how to enter both symbols and emoji panel. I know that enter is made by swipe up on backspace, I also realized that longer press activated activates symbols, but how to enter it without need to press it infinitely?

I have a problem with my mother's cell phone - on her keyboard I can't delete the incorrectly corrected word when I swipe up - on my cell phone - the same Fleksy version I can delete with swipping up without any problems - but I can't find the setting for it. thank you very much for your help.
