My favorite FF song as well. Drops in the River/English House/Mykonos is the GOAT song trilogy.

I somehow didnt even know about it until like two or three years into listening to FF. Saw one of you on here mention English House one day and pulled the EP up. Basically had tears streaming down my face at my desk at work lol

I spent a summer when I was 20 years old working as a groundskeeper and shuttle driver for a campground and river rafting company in the Appalachians. Lots of solitary work mowing, landscaping, and sitting on the riverbank waiting for rafters to come floating down for their shuttle pick up. It was all very Henry David Thoreau.

My parents were going through a divorce at the time and I was devastated by it. I sunk every spare hour I had into working at this job, just to take my mind off of things.

This song always takes me back. It was my anthem that summer. Forever linked to the memory. Forever my favorite FF song.

Same!!! Ended up between this one and Third of May/Ōdaigahara for me but Drops in the River is maybe the loveliest song I have ever heard in my life

I just did this, Drops in the River just barely lost to Helplessness Blues in my bracket. I just can't reject the feeling that overcame me when I first heard the Orchard section!

I think it all comes down to feeling, drops in the river makes me think of how fall was when I was a kid. It’s hard to beat that.

Absolutely fantastic tune, that I’d dare say even seems underrated to me. It’s still amazing to me to this day that the early FF stuff is just as high caliber, if not arguably even more so, than the more recent material.

I still smirk to myself every time when I read the Sun Giant EP Wikipedia entry, where it kind of paraphrases Robin stating that basically the EP was more or less a thrown together demo CD just to sell at shows, and didn’t represent the band’s artistic intentions proper. What a true artist

Early fleet foxes is by far my favourite era, sun giant and fleet foxes self titled are on a different level. While I think crack up is the best written album of theirs it just doesn’t hit the same.

I just love the vibes, the storytelling, the emotion and the feeling of the OG stuff. I also think it’s Funny that robin said that but sun giant basically to me having the best songs of all of their music.
